“The Vet Life” Will Rogers once said, “Personally, I have always felt the best doctor in the world is a veterinarian. He can’t ask his patients what is the matter - he’s just got to know.” I am finally in my vet clinic curing all the animals’, that are in need of my help. Today, I will be doing surgery on a Labrador Retriever, however she will be spayed. I do surgeries typically in the morning, because that way I know that my patient will be fine once the surgery is completed. After high school graduation all of those dreams of pursuing that one career, finally becomes into a reality.
In this situation, veterinary schools are very difficult to attend, yet many people meet Texas A & M University (TAMU) requirements. “Veterinary medical students …show more content…
“Veterinarians care for the health of animals (diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and the disease of pets, livestock, and other animals”) (“Veterinarians from Bureau of labor statistics”). These doctors typically work with animals however, veterinarians are able to perform surgeries on animals, treat wounds, prescribe medications, and euthanize animals. In other words, veterinarians are the doctors that get to work with animals this career is very exciting for those who are animal lovers. Just in the same way, veterinarians also have many obstacles when helping animals. “The work can be emotionally stressful, as veterinarians deal with sick animals and their anxious owners” (“Veterinarians from Bureau of labor statistics). Yes, veterinarians enjoy working with their patients, on the other hand, at times there can be situations where the animals owners can put pressure on the doctor's to help the animal cure from a disease. This is very important to know this is where being ethical comes into place, because you need to know how to associate with the animal's owner if he or she had any complications during surgery and how their pet managed through surgery. In conclusion, veterinarians are reliable for animals, but through everything veterinarians take all their compassion while treating …show more content…
“Annual starting salaries for veterinarians starts between $38,628 to $50,878” (“Green Paul R. And AnnaMarie L. Sheldon, Veterinarians”). When veterinarians start caring for animals they typically earn between those two amounts every year, however, their annual salary depends on their location and how well they help animals. The annual salary is important to know, because all those years of college can finally start paying off also the more they work the higher their annual salary becomes. Pursuing this further, there are different veterinarians who care for specific animals which can depend on their salaries. “Caring mainly for smaller animals earned the highest salaries” (“Green Paul R. And AnnaMarie L. Sheldon, Veterinarians”). Consequently, veterinarians who work with smaller animals do get paid more than a large animal veterinarian. For this reason, many pet owners usually have small home pets, for example: ( dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, iguanas, etc.) which result in those animals having to visit veterinary clinics when they need to. While large animals, for example: (cows, pigs, horses, and sheep) those animals don't need to visit the veterinary clinics, because most of the time those animals hardly need vaccinations like puppies do. In final, it's not about how much money you get from working, but for doing what you've

Personal Narrative: A Career As A Veterinarian

...Veterinarian. That's what I wanted to be for the longest time, from about 8 years old to 9th grade, I was convinced that that was the career for me. All things considering it was an odd career choice for me; I couldn't stand seeing animals hurt ( I have a one major rule, that I won't watch a movie where an animal is hurt), and even the thought of an animal vomiting or performing surgery makes me nauseous. During my 9th grade year, I decided that maybe being a veterinarian wasn't the correct career choice for me. After that, I was at a loss for what I wanted to do, medicine was certainly out of the question for obvious reason, law was decidedly boring to me and teaching lacked a certain appeal, but business... business was intriguing....

Personal Narrative: A Career As A Veterinarian

...The career I chose to be is a veterinarian, I have a big heart for animals and want to help them anyway I can. What draws interest in this career for me would be helping others, and also meeting new pets everyday. A veterinarian is a person who practices medicine or surgery on animals. In more simple terms it is like a doctor for animals, taking care of them if they are in pain or being proactive to prevent future pain. Some things veterinarians have to deal with is being the one to tell families their beloved pet just died, or that it has a certain amount of days left to live. Also, dependent on their skill level some vets have to be ready to work off their schedule if there is an emergency, or ready to work outside of their office. The...

She was involved in the writing of anything from experiences of Native Americans, school board meetings, poverty in Appalachia, health care in prisons, mining disasters, and even a private interview of Hugh Hefner. Nonetheless, she had always loved stories growing up and remembers reading To Kill a Mocking Bird as a novel that had a particularly significant impact on her as a teenager. It was reading that novel that finally led her towards a career in writing. ...C h a p t e r 1 Prewriting GETTING STARTED (OR SOUP-CAN LABELS CAN BE FASCINATING) For many writers, getting started is the hardest part. You may have noticed that when it is time to begin a writing assignment, you suddenly develop an enormous desire to straighten your books, water your plants, or sharpen your pencils for the fifth time. If this situation sounds familiar, you may find it reassuring to know that many professionals undergo these same strange compulsions before they begin writing. Jean Kerr, author of Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, admits that she often finds herself in the kitchen reading soup-can labels—or anything—in order to prolong the moments before taking pen in hand. John C. Calhoun, vice president under Andrew Jackson, insisted he had to plow his fields before he could write, and Joseph Conrad, author of Lord Jim and other novels, is said to have cried on occasion from the sheer dread of sitting down to compose his stories. To spare you as much hand-wringing as possible, this chapter presents some practical suggestions on how to begin writing your short essay. Although all writers must find the methods that work best for them, you may find some of the following ideas helpful. But no matter how you actually begin putting words on paper, it is absolutely essential to maintain two basic ideas concerning your writing task. Before you write a single sentence, you should always remind yourself that 1. You have some valuable ideas to tell your reader,...

In the end, we are our choices. —Jeff Bezos, commencement speech at Princeton University, May 30, 2010 Prologue In the early 1970s, an industrious advertising executive named Julie Ray became fascinated with an unconventional public-school program for gifted children in Houston, Texas. Her son was among the first students enrolled in what would later be called the Vanguard program, which stoked creativity and independence in its students and nurtured expansive, outside-the-box thinking. Ray grew so enamored with the curriculum and the community of enthusiastic teachers and parents that she set out to research similar schools around the state with an eye toward writing a book about...
