Up until this moment in my life, being a senior in high school, I have participated in various sports since I was very little. I have played baseball, soccer, basketball, softball, and track and field. In every sport, and in every game, there is a lesson to be learned. It does not matter how good we are at making a play, there is always room to improve. I have especially leaned many lessons in my favorite sport, basketball. I have played a total of five years of varsity basketball for St. Paul’s Preparatory Academy. This fact gave me plenty of time and opportunities to work with different players every year. As a team captain, I quickly learned the differences each player has, along with their strengths and weaknesses. One person may …show more content…
For example, in the state game of 2015, our team won state victoriously. During the game I was very frustrated with myself because I kept fouling. I have to admit that I was scared to foul out, so during half time I had to control my frustration for my team. I did not want to get angry with them because of my shortcoming. I was crushed when I eventually fouled out, but instead of going to the bench and crying, I knew in my heart that as the leader of my team I needed to cheer them on. I set aside my reason for being upset, and cheered them on all the way until the end. We did win state that year, and I was so proud of the team for the victory. Even though I was unable to contribute to the last critical minutes in the game, each person put their strengths together and executed excellent team work. That day I had to learn to trust my team, and I understood that they were stronger than what I thought. I also learned what a good attitude can do for me. When I get frustrated I doubt my team, but that day when I put aside my worries, trusted my team and trusted my God, I had no doubt that we could

...Have you ever had that one time where you thought of something to be so great, but it didn't go as planned? Well I did, and it turned out to be the most horrifying thing I could ever imagine.
