A great soccer player, Mia Hamm, once said, “I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion.” This quote describes the Central Dauphin Girls lacrosse team the most because the whole team has sacrificed to become the best team we can be. Over the past four years, we have changed the culture of the lacrosse team. We have dedicated and prided ourselves on winning, teamwork, and having fun. In the last three years, we have won a Mid-Penn championship and have been to districts twice. This year there have been many ups and downs, but I make sure we encourage each other to continue to improve our teamwork and skill. In the games, I lead the team in a variety of cheers, which always pumps the team up to give it their all. Additionally, I have been known to cheer my teammates up, when they are down. I can always give someone a good laugh. No matter my personal struggles at home, I never let that impact my altitude on the field. I always give 110% effort at each practice and game, even after a long night working at Sheetz. It can be very stressful having a single parent because you have to work harder to get the things you need. In the past, I have struggled getting to practice and games on time, so now I volunteer to bring any players home. However, I never let this stop me from becoming the best player and person I can be. Furthermore, I am a great leader. I help demonstrate different drills for the coach and give advice to other players. Lastly, I ensure that we promote a great team atmosphere to allow our team to come together as a family. I like to bring snacks for them after we have a good game to reward them and encourage them to get better. It also adds a boost of energy for early morning
