I had a little time to myself, so lackadaisically took a scenic tour of the town. For one I had not grown accustomed to it since my arrival, but more than I would like to admit Carol's case had invaded my train of thought, and I needed to clear my head.
From what I had read, Bridgefield used to be a small, but wealthy town, until ten years ago when the state saw the viability of a town so close to the ocean.
What followed was a large development boom, that caught the town in an awkward transition between homely alcove, and concrete jungle. Senior citizens felt the most threatened by the changes, worried their very way of life would be destroyed under the heel of progress. Old world traditions bucking against new world pragmatism.

After I returned, Emily had finished her preparations for dinner, stand triumphantly over two slabs of slightly burned meat, surrounded by an array of vegetables.
"Impressive, I didn't think it could be salvaged." I said, sitting down in the chair across from her. Emily's religious beliefs and my lack thereof was always a disconnect for us, but never a point of contention. After a moment of silence, Emily perked her head up again "Alright, let's eat! She announced.
"So, how does it taste?" She asked, eagerly awaiting my evaluation. With a deep intake of breath, I cut off a small part, and stabbed it with my fork, and stuck it in my mouth. It was barely editable.
"You're improving." I said, after swallowing the ill fated meat. "Thanks!" She responded with a smile of genuine delight at my statement. "I met someone at school who gave me some tips." She recalled upon her day with glee, she was always fast at making friends. "So how did the job interview go anyway?" She asked, not bothering to chew with her mouth closed.
I recounted the events of the day to her while she listened intently to my experience, listing off details up until Jack's arrest, which I left a little more vague.
"Well it's good you got the job." She chirped after I completed my recounting. " I wasn't sure it went well, you seemed a bit troubled when you came in." She added. Emily knowing me her entire life has made her keen of picking on the state of my
