Personal Narrative: Joining The Creekside Seminoles Golf Team

Golf. The game that provided me insight into life as well as myself. When I was thirteen years old my father passed away from Kidney failure, one of his favorite past times included watching tournaments or playing in them. Before, he passed, he purchased a golf set, but the company sent him a lady’s set instead. So, he offered the clubs to me and asked if I could attempt to play golf at least once just to see how I liked it. During, the first week of my freshman year in high school that’s exactly what I did. I joined the “Creekside Seminoles Golf Team” and I’ll admit it was extremely difficult for me since it was my first time picking up a club. However, I worked immensely hard and begin staying late after practice to work on my putting. While my swing gradually improved, I still placed high throughout our local meets.…show more content… I only wanted to win, not once did I take the time to fall in love with the sport. I would constantly compare myself to other teammates, when the only person I was truly in competition with was myself. Soon after, my scores began to decrease as the weeks went by once I figured out the secret to golf or maybe the secret to having a fulfilling life. Which is, “Strive to better than who you were yesterday, one must not strive to surpass others and if one seeks to live a blissful life you must participate in tasks that bring you happiness."
