Two years ago at a Christian sports camp called Kanakuk, I learned the most important lesson through an action I deeply regret. His name was Kirby Wells, he was about four and a half feet tall and a year younger then me at the time. He had been going to Kanakuk for almost three years and I probably ruined his camp experience for the rest of his life. I will never get over what I said to him, and I never should. I’m too embarrassed to go up and apologize although I know I should. I smiled because I thought we were going to win. We shouted and cheered, hooted and hollered, but then when we looked we saw that Kirby had dropped the ball. It was their turn to hoot and holler as the ball rolled past Kirby. One run scored. Kirby tried to grab the ball. The runners were at the next bases. We shouted for him to hurry. He threw the ball to third. The ball missed third. They scored again. The third baseman got the ball. The runner rounded third. The third baseman threw the ball. Kirby caught the ball at home. The runner was two steps from home. Kirby threw the ball trying to get him out! He
