By the time that I was six months old I had already been moved out of my home country and birth family. I was adopted into a family located in Burnsville, Minnesota. Since I was adopted so early in my life it doesn’t cross my mind all that often. I have always been different from every other kid in my school and most of the city. Coming from Neenah, a small city in Wisconsin, with a population a little over 25,000 and a tenth of a percent of that being Korean I am sure that no one else in the city is a Korean adoptee. Even though I don't notice it every day being adopted affects my life more than I think. At a young age people would always ask me about my family, where I was from, and other similar questions. Camp Choson is a camp made for Korean adoptees that takes place for one week every year. I have gone to camp for 10 years, and the only time that I didn’t attend was in third grade. During my years at camp I was able to meet new people that share a similar background.. Over the course of those ten years we spent about fifty days together, but in the time we were together I became closer to them than most people that I know. The people are Camp Choson are like a second family to me. Along with meeting new people the camp also taught us about Korean culture. There was Korean dance, drumming, tae kwon do, traditional foods, and other cultural things. By learning about Korean culture I have realized that is important to me even though I hardly think about it. Every year the camp brought in a different group of people from Korea. The people they brought in ranged from break dancers to college students. Camp Choson helped me realize how important my heritage is. Living as an adopted Korean, even unnoticed, is something that will always be part of who I
