Personal Narrative: Macy's Lawsuit

You know when you want time to go just as fast as your heartbeat? My heartbeat was audible as when there was no answer on Macy’s front door I had started to hit crisis point. For the first time just when I needed her, Macy wasn’t home and every moment seemed to drag as I waited for her. My head couldn’t keep up with the random thoughts and the two main questions that seemed to repeat itself over and over again.
Why?
What for?
Why?
What for?
I thought of all the possibilities of why the King would be coming. However, no reason I gave myself was valid. It was all a conspiracy theory and the longer I sat there the more the voices in my head just chewed at my brain cells. Absolute naggers. I even tried shaking my head like a rag doll for them …show more content…
All I could think of that was a rip-off, as had she pretty much tried to baptize and drown me with water when she washed my hair. I could still feel the wet on my t-shirt and my only god save was that my t-shirt I chose to wear that day wasn’t white. There was no way after that, was I going to endure a clothing store. I told Macy that I had work to do back at the farm, but would make sure I’d pick up her new bed-set from the Co-Op Store, like I had promised and told her I would purchase some new work jeans there and a new shirt and would wear those instead. No shaking of her head and her telling me that I needed to look more like a girl this time was going to convince me otherwise. As long as I was clean and presentable, it would be okay and if the King didn’t like it… well he could go suck the big …show more content…
God, I sounded like a mouse. I have no problem talking to cows, so it shouldn’t be that hard talking to people near my own age? Wrong. By the pause that was in between us it was a complete fail. Did he not hear me? I had all the empty crates from the delivery this morning before the hairdresser and I knew with Macy’s style it was going to be heavy and ornate.
‘It’s already loaded.’ He said.
‘Huh?’ I asked.
‘Macy called this morning and said you were coming, but it took two of us to lift it so we put it for delivery. Lyle and I were going to follow you out cause I can never remember the turn off for Macy’s driveway.’
Well that solved that then.
‘Oh okay, sure.’ As I paid Alex and went outside and loaded the back of my truck and waited for them to follow behind me I was nervous for two reasons.
Having another conversation when I got out of the truck to both Alex and Lyle and the second wasn’t evident until I pulled into Macy’s driveway. A black SUV with gold crest and a team of four gentleman in pacing around the house in suits and Macy up on the verandah having what looked like a serious conversation. It wasn’t until that I parked the truck did I really that it was none other than King John William-Henney III.
Fuck. My life right now. I am so

For Isabella and Calista Stone When you are eighty years old, and in a quiet moment of reflection narrating for only yourself the most personal version of your life story, the telling that will be most compact and meaningful will be the series of choices you have made. In the end, we are our choices. —Jeff Bezos, commencement speech at Princeton University, May 30, 2010 Prologue In the early 1970s, an industrious advertising executive named Julie Ray became fascinated with an unconventional public-school program for gifted children in Houston, Texas. Her son was among the first students enrolled in what would later be called the Vanguard program, which stoked creativity and independence in its students and nurtured expansive, outside-the-box thinking. Ray grew so enamored with the curriculum and the community of enthusiastic teachers and parents that she set out to research similar schools around the state with an eye toward writing a book about...

Saylor URL: http://www.saylor.org/books Saylor.org 1 Preface Competing books are focused on the academic part of HRM, which is necessary in a university or college setting. However, the goal with this book is not only to provide the necessary academic background information but also to present the material with a practitioner’s focus on both large and small businesses. While the writing style is clear and focused, we don’t feel jargon and ten-dollar words are necessary to making a good textbook. Clear and concise language makes the book interesting and understandable (not to mention more fun to read) to the future HRM professional and manager alike. It is highly likely that anyone in business will have to take on an HRM role at some point in their careers. For example, should you decide to start your own business, many of the topics discussed will apply to your business. This is the goal of this book; it is useful enough for the HRM professional, but the information presented is also applicable to managers, supervisors, and entrepreneurs. Besides these differences, other key differences include the following:   This book utilizes a technology focus and shows how HRM activities can be leveraged using technology. We have also included a chapter on communication and information...

For applied topics, like staffing, learning how concepts are applied in the world of work also allow us see how the course is relevant to our own lives. The use of these cases will serve as a bridge between the major themes in the textbook Staffing Organizations and the problems faced by managers on a daily basis. The Tanglewood case is closely intertwined with textbook concepts. Most assignments in the case require reference to specific tables and examples in the book. After completing these cases, you will be much more able to understand and apply the material in the textbook. With this in mind, it should be noted that the cases are designed to correspond with the types of information found in work environments. This means that for many important decisions, the right answers will not always be easy to detect...

...FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE BESTSELLING BIOGRAPHIES OF BENJAMIN FRANKLIN AND ALBERT EINSTEIN, THIS IS THE EXCLUSIVE BIOGRAPHY OF STEVE JOBS. Based on more than forty interviews with Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing. At a time when America is seeking ways to sustain its innovative edge, Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. He built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering. Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing offlimits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and...
