Personal Narrative: Mershad Mowing And Landscaping

I faced a huge dilemma during the spring of my sophomore year. It was the beginning of my first job and I was thankful enough to find work in the landscaping business through a company known as Weed Boys. This gratefulness did not last however, as I soon discovered that that Weed Boys abused their employees and failed to protect individual rights in the workplace. At this realization, I made the decision to confront my manager, the source of mistreatment and a man known to be very stubborn. After a long argument ensued, the man paid half of what he owed and ordered me to never return. His last words to me were “a person as immature as you will never be successful in life. You have absolutely no potential and reality will soon hit you in the face." The things he said enraged me and brought out a sense of determination that I have never shown before. Yet, there were times where I feared that he was right, that I truly had no potential. Nonetheless, I…show more content… My extremely supportive parents agreed to loan me a sum of money to purchase all the necessary supplies I needed, which would later be repaid in monthly increments. I focused all my energy toward marketing this new business and making its image very strong through attractive yards. Mershad Mowing and Landscaping ended up being very successful and still is today, well surpassing the size of Weed Boys. This satisfactory result taught me a lesson that began my transfer from childhood to adulthood. A lesson that all adults need to acquire through experience is that one often needs the help of others to start succeeding. It is then his/her job to build off this help and turn it into the success one strives for. After leaving Weed Boys, I had a goal that needed aid getting off the ground. With the assistance of my parents, I was able to turn the dream into a reality and work hard to achieve the success I sought
