Five years ago, I walked into my first marching band rehearsal. Quite arguably one of the most terrifying moments of my life, I adventured into a room full of students that I didn't know. Four months later I sit in the same room, this time it's the close of my first season as a Marching Huskie. The seniors each approached the podium and made their farewell speeches. In this moment It seemed as if I had loads of time left in my marching career. Little did I know, the next four years would go by faster than I could imagine. I had no idea the impact this organization was about to have on my life. I had no idea the experiences and challenges I would face with this group that I would learn to call my second family.
While being a Marching Huskie has come with many challenges, the greatest challenge has come in my final years.…show more content… Many people get the chance to perform on a stage as an actor or musician, but not everyone is blessed with the opportunity to perform on a field. It is a feeling incomparable to any other. When you are on the field, whether it be on a frigid cold October night or a scorching summer day, everything melts away. The weather fails to exist. Outside problems fail to exist. Nothing else exists in those eight minutes except the music and the show. What stands out as the single greatest experience is the feeling of standing in that last set: the audience is clapping and you are left standing there, breathless. I cherish the ending of a show because in those split seconds before you leave the field, everything stops. In those moments, time itself seems to stand still. It is magic that can only be produced by music. These moment after a show, when you are filled with unadulterated pride in what you have just done, is what has been my greatest experience as a Marching
