There is only one place on this planet I hope to never see again. Where hunting is a sport you learn as a baby, where Mormons congregate once a month at a nearby church to see the production of “The Book of Mormon”, and where criminals travel when they do not want to be found. This is the place I hate so much, yet will give my unconditional love and thanks to. Montana contains no interesting exhibits, or treasured landmarks. It is not the first place a person thinks of when they want to take a vacation. But what it does contain is my home. Ten months of my life was spent in the Yaak mountains, where everyday I looked out the window and saw the exact same scene every day. Ten months of absolute pain, hatred, anger, and growth. Ten months of living with stranger’s who are now my family. Ten months of waking up with no familiar face in sight, no comfort from family, and ten months of knowing you are truly alone. My father woke me up at 4am, told me to say goodbye to my brothers and several minutes later I was on my way to the airport. I was not told where I was going or why, but I knew.
