My Mom safely underwent an endoscopy this morning; the gastroenterologist removed a piece of food that was obstructing her lower esophagus. She now feels much better and will return home this evening.
The endoscopy revealed some ulcerated tissue that might have partially caused the blockage. It also revealed a slight narrowing at the gastroesophogeal junction -- almost certainly a causal factor.
She received dietary instructions from the gastroenterologist and staff, and she will now eat only liquids and purees, and possibly some other very soft foods. –When I talked with her just now, she was unclear about precise dietary details, but Linda has careful notes of everything the doctor said, and I'm sure the staff gave her careful written
