We all have our own personal code of ethics and we all look at the world and others in different ways. Who I am, who do I affect, what do I believe, why do I believe this. These are all things that we should look at in out out personal code of ethic and test ourselves to see if we really stand up to who we say that we are.

I need to lead by example and show them the right things that they should be doing, so they don't attain some of the non-genuine traits that I have. They both look up to be a leader and help them. Another person who I effect are my friends. Have you ever noticed that you like and start to things you wouldn't have done before, but now do becasue your friends do it? I hope to absorb some of their better traits as well as giving them some of mine. IfI could improve or change the way that I affect my friends, I would make sure that I am always sending them a positive message. We all have faults in our personalities, so I look to help people fill the gaps, and also allow mine to become filled by others. What do I believe and why do I believe it?What do I believe about myself? I believe that everyone is put on this Earth to make a difference and help others in anyway that they can. ...to the last, but do you? To examine my own personal code of ethics, you must be open minded and welcoming, for it based on acceptance, respect, dignity, honor, courage, commitment, and confidently. Acceptance is something I embrace dearly, and have come to understand that I will never be the archeologist I dreamed of being, and instead of discovering bones of the no longer living, I chose to chase another person’s dreams to live, and have that right to live no matter how they live in this world. It is my personal belief that we must accept what is in front of us, in order to proceed in the right direction. Upon embracing...

Personal Narrative: My Personal Code Of Ethics

...Ethics are the rational standards of right and wrong that advocate how people ought to behave in terms of human rights, responsibilities, benefits to society, justice, or specific qualities. Ethics include standards that tell people to refrain from such things as murder, stealing, rape, attacking others, fraud, and slanderous talk. Such standards include also many that instruct people to live by virtues of compassion, honesty, and loyalty to ones friends and family. Ethics also mentions self-analyses and development of one's own ethical system. A person’s feelings, societal laws, and social norms can stray from what is morally correct. This means that it is compulsory to regularly scrutinize one's moral standards to certify that they are sound and justifiable. My personal code of ethics does not differ much from the behavior that’s accepted by society such as following and abiding by the law. Even though occasionally I break laws that I think are pointless or ineffective. I respect my elders and have never raped, murdered, or stolen something from someone else. I also try to live my life with compassion for others and to be as honest as possible....

Family Counseling Approach: Narrative Counseling

...Through narrative therapy a counselor can help clients gain access to preferred story lines about their lives and identities taking the place of previous negative and self-defeating narratives that destroy the self. Presented in this paper, is an overview of the Narrative therapy and the Social Construction Model and several facets of this approach including poststrucuralism, deconstructionism, self-narratives, cultural narratives, therapeutic conversations, ceremonies, letters and leagues. A personal integration of faith in this family counseling approach is presented and discussed also in this paper. NARUMI AMADOR’S FAMILY CONSELING APPROACH Introduction Narrative therapy is found under the Social Construction Model. Using the Narrative approach, the therapist will not be the central figure in the therapeutic process, instead he will be influential to the client, helping him/her internalize and create new stories within themselves to draw new and healthier assumptions about who they are. This process enables clients to distract from focusing on the negative narratives which defined their past, redefining their lives into future positive stories. Narrative therapists define the problem as the problem instead of defining the client as the problem. The therapy process begins redefining the problem, externalizing it and getting it out in the open. The narrative therapist uses the questioning technique and creates alternative narratives to connect...

Above the Board: Book Review

...Vonnegut Webster University ABOVE THE BOARD: My Personal Review In conjunction with this course, this book serves as a critical reflection that contrasts the books ethical notions as well as its assumptions with the ethical standards, perceptions, and ideas that we review in the classroom. The main theme of this book is an attempt to extant to its reader several approaches to which a Chairman or Chief Executive Officer can create a set of principles for ethics within an organization, corporation, or enterprise. I must say that one of the good things I enjoyed about this book is how it teaches professionals (primarily the leaders of any big corporations) different approaches and techniques to encompasses business values to the daily lives of the main effort that drives the business to achieve success and meeting the company’s intent, which are the employees … the driving force of any corporation. The various ways in which this book outlines in examples rest on an assumption that the ultimate enablers of any business that values ethics and morality are its employees and subordinates that make things happen. I’ve been employed by several different companies to include the United States Army. I have to say that none of these companies and organizations that I have worked for thus far; were perfect when it comes to exercising ethical values that have been set forth in their core company and organizational values or ethics plans. In fact, I don’t think any one company is...

Research Spotlight on Peer Tutoring

...opportunity to understand better the material being studied. What does the research say about peer tutoring? In reviews of peer tutoring programs, researchers found: * When students participated in the role of reading tutor, improvements in reading achievement occurred * When tutors were explicitly trained in the tutoring process, they were far more effective and the students they were tutoring experienced significant gains in achievement * Most of the students benefited from peer tutoring in some way, but same-age tutors were as effective as cross-age tutors (Burnish, Fuchs & Fuchs, 2005; Topping, 2008)  Some benefits of peer tutoring for students include higher academic achievement, improved relationships with peers, improved personal and social development as well as increased motivation. In turn, the teacher benefits from this model of instruction by an increased opportunity to individualize instruction, increased facilitation of inclusion/mainstreaming, and opportunities to reduce inappropriate behaviors (Topping, 2008). How Ethical Ceos Create Honest Corporations

...ABOVE THE BOARD ------------------------------------------------- How Ethical CEOs Create Honest Corporations A book report We have seen in recent corporate history a litany of corporate scandals that rocked the foundations of the business world. Huge corporations whose economic outputs are larger than most of the developing countries have suddenly imploded under the weight of stock manipulation, unscrupulous accounting procedures and deliberate enculturation of business competitiveness anchored on ‘doing whatever it takes to win’. Small ethical cracks in the business foundation had gone too many and had been widely ignored by all of their stakeholders – employees, board of directors, stockholders, regulators, auditors and analysts. In the aftermath, we are faced with a realization of how fragile our economic system is and how much of it depends on values that are both difficult to measure and, in the current world, even more difficult to acquire. These are not mere economic values of profitability; but values of integrity, of truth, and of plain and simple honesty. It is in this context that the three authors - Patrizia Porrini, Ph.D., Lorrin Hiris, D.P.S., and Gina Poncini, Ph.D. - wrote this book. They do not seek to expound on the voluminous literature available discussing why and how these corporate scandals happened. They seek to provide answers to how effective CEOs build an ethical culture within an organization by providing actual cases of ethical...

Ethical Dilemma In Art Therapy

...The art therapy services conducted by Registered Art Therapists, or ATRs, are an establishment of professional competence, responsibility, and respect. Simultaneously, part of that mission is the recognition and compliance of the ethical codes and moral values. When confronted with an ethical dilemma, the ATR must evaluate the issue and identify the important general principle with a positive approach. Whether it is the clients’ safety, their right to make a choice, or having equal access to services (AATA, 2013), the art therapist must then utilize the ethical standards as a guideline into understanding factors that are right and wrong. One must demonstrate in achieving a good conclusion by following the five-step model: the first is to identify...

Philosophy of Nursing

...Personal Philosophy of Nursing Cindy Lucas Jacksonville University November 12, 2012 Personal Philosophy of Nursing The nursing profession is not just a job, it is a higher calling. The amount of work, time, and emotion that goes into nursing practice holds nurses to a much higher standard than the average nine to five office job. Nurses must be proficient in a background of anatomy, physiology, and the way drugs and diseases work. Nurses must also combine that knowledge with sharp critical thinking skills and an unconditional compassion for humankind. While every nurse is unique in their own way, I hope the values that I have in my daily living can affect the way I conduct myself while on duty as a practicing nurse. The same theme seems evident in most nursing philosophies; caring, health and wellbeing, environment, and clinical excellence through education. As I contemplate what my philosophy of nursing is I have discovered that I also incorporate these aspects of nursing into my own personal values of what I believe it is to be a nurse. My personal belief system has always been that a nurse should possess strong ethical and moral values, a passion for caring, and a commitment to lifelong education. Ethical and Moral values One of the greatest challenges in nursing is how to integrate appropriately one’s own values and beliefs into the professional practice. The nurse’s primary commitment is to the patient and the patient’s family. Patient respect, advocacy...

Each one of us shares a different story that reflects his/her experiences in life and some life changing moments encountered in life. Our life stories shape us and determine who we are and give coherence that we can relate to. The stories also change our views about life and help determine our expectations. People will always take life and react to situations in respect to the stories of their lives. These reaction s are always very different from different individuals depending on the lives they have experienced. Morality on the other hand could be defined by different people...

Living Between Two Cultures

...Living between Two Cultures It has been almost nine years since I arrived from Mexico to the United States. Integrating these two unique cultures has been a wonderful experience. For immigrants in the United States culture differences can be difficult and complicate. Assimilating two separate cultures is an ongoing challenge. In this essay, I will describe the issues many immigrants face in regards to diversity, stereotyping, preserving self identity and personal values. America is nation that is populated with a culturally diverse group of people. The United States has welcomed more immigrants than any other country. The steady stream of people coming to America has had a profound effect on the evolution of American society. America is known as the land of the free and people from all over the world are attracted by promise of opportunity and success. It is not easy for those who move to the United States from other countries. It takes a lot of courage and sacrifice to leave your homeland and come to a new country, but the prospect of a better life makes the risk worth taking. Immigrants who come to America enrich the country by bringing aspects of their native cultures with them. For example, Hispanic Americans celebrate their culture with street fairs and other festivities on Cinco de Mayo. Other cultures, such as African Americans celebrate both Kwanzaa, a festival drawn from African rituals. As the population of the United States becomes more diverse its people are...
