The last weekend of winter break, I participated in my eleventh SAYHA, or Spokane Area Youth Hockey Association, Young American Days tournament up at Eagles Ice arena. This tournament takes teams from around the west coast region of not only the United States but also Canada, and has them compete in a three day tournament. I have played hockey for practically my entire life, and this tournament gave my team and I a chance to play different competition from around the area and not just the same old teams from around Spokane. Throughout the tournament my team and I were challenged by teams and opponents that we have never seen before, and I realized that there were kids throughout the region just like me who loved to play the game of hockey.
