The day I gave birth to my son will forever be engraved in my heart and soul. I never thought I’d become a mother at the young age of 23. Finding out I was pregnant doesn’t come close to the first day I met him. It was July 21st, 2014 the day I was admitted to Providence Holy Cross for a scheduled inducement. I was having my baby three weeks early due to low amniotic fluid and IUGR. It was time to evict my little one I remember feeling anxious and excited instead of nervous and scared. Everyone kept making fun of me because I said I didn’t want pain management, I was serious about a natural delivery. The nurse came in to begin the process. I kept thinking that in just a few hours I’ll have him in my arms, I was wrong. As time went on my contractions kicked in, they were minor and tolerable. My room began to fill with family members; there were over five people in the room. They kept trying to make me laugh and keep me entertained as we waited. The hours passed and the contractions grew stronger, making my blood pressure sky rocket. The nurse kept offering the epidural but I refused. I was persistent about having a natural delivery.…show more content… I was told my another nurse that it seemed to her like my labor would be fast and easy since I was already 3cm dilated before I came in, she was wrong. The blood pressure medication made me feel sick and my body felt heavy. My contractions grew stronger coming one after the other. Finally a nurse came in and said I was at risk of cardiac arrest due to my high blood pressure, she said the epidural was necessary to stabilize my blood pressure.
