The starting bell had sound for recess and the day marked half way over, I was almost there, just four more hours tell I was home in my bed. It was a hot Texas summer day and the heat had seemed to get to peoples heads causing all to be in a foul mood. A particular student who I will not refer to his real name but will call him tommy instead, had been extremely hostile and abusive. Problems with Tommy had lasted all year long and today was one day too many. Tommy enjoyed disrupting our football game that we enjoyed playing so much since it was one of the few times we could all be together. Tommy had positioned himself by the monkey bars and had my friend mark in a headlock at the time so he was oblivious to me approaching from his rear. Since Tommy at the time was twice the size of myself, I knew I would need a physical advantage some how. I climbed the monkey bars and grasped the second bar, with all my strength I began to swing myself back and forth to build enough momentum to jump on Tommy and knock him down. Once I felt that I had enough force behind me, I sprung myself from the monkey bars and onto Tommy’s back. Since it was an extremely hot day, I had been abnormally sweaty hands causing me to loose my grip on my release. Instead of landing on Tommy’s back and placing him in a headlock like he had my friend, I landed on Tommy’s head causing him to smack to the ground face first. Once I read that he had assigned me to two weeks of in school suspension my stomach turned to knots knowing what my mom would have to say to me. When we received disciplinary action at school we were required to have the discipline form signed by our parents so the principle would know the parent was aware. My only thought at the time was it can not reach my mother’s hand, I fumbled through my backpack in hope that there was a copy of my mother’s signature. There it was, a paper that had my mother’s neatly written signature and my attentions where clear, I was going to commit plagiarism. My mother was setting outside of my school waiting for me to come out of the school so I knew I needed to act quick. I ran to the nearest restroom and placed the signature under my discipline slip, with my heart pumping out of my chest and sweat pouring down my face, I focused on making my mother’s signature an exact replica. When I felt that the signature was perfectly copied onto the discipline slip I sprinted back to the principle’s office to return the slip to my principle and ensure him that my mom was aware. Once I arrived to his office and placed the slip onto his desk he looked at me and said “ since you had your mother sign it so fast that must mean she is here, why don’t we go have a talk with her”. My heart fell too my toes and my stomach turned inside out, I felt like a dead man
