Professional Responsibility

...Personal Responsibility Cheryl Rose GEN/200 April 2, 2012 Personal Responsibility Personal responsibility is paramount for college success for several reasons. As a student who does not take ownership or responsibility of his actions, but instead finds excuses or points his finger at others for his accountabilities, he may want to rethink the long journey he has ahead. Without responsibility for an individuals’ own success, he will need to reconsider his yearning to attend college. Taking Ownership Although the degree of personal responsibility may vary among individuals, it is important to recognize that each individual must take ownership for his actions and behaviors as success is dependent on the individual. An important strategy for students is to take ownership of his success while attending college. For those individuals who do not take ownership of his actions or behaviors, there may be consequences to pay. As Denis Waitley stated “A sign of wisdom and maturity is when you come to terms with the realization that your decisions cause your rewards and consequences. You are responsible for your life, and your ultimate success depends on the choices you make.” My personal responsibility will include time management, collaboration, and a positive attitude. Responsibility Whereas personal responsibility must start with us as individuals, one must also note the importance of personal responsibility in a team environment. Personal responsibility...
