Making good judgment is the primary reason for using decision making models. Whether the type of judgment is quick, emotional, or a well thought out decision, the type of approach used can determine the outcome in any circumstances. Bad decision making is one of the major causes of businesses failing; hence, making good decisions can affect the ending results of an organization or even a personal situation. Different businesses and personal situations require specific types of decision making models and managers are especially responsible for how organizational or departmental decisions are made just as individuals are for him or her families and self. In my previous and most current position, I have had the opportunity to experience several styles of decision making models. From ethical decision making, responsible decision making, collective decision making, and rational decision making, I have found that the most used styles are rational and ethical. I believe that ethical decision making should always be considered first depending on the situation and is essential is any decision, for the reason that it can benefit or damage an organization. Rational decision making can have the same affect; however, this type of decision can either be ineffective or effective (Carmeli, Sheaffer & Halevi, 2009). These types of decision also consist of a well thought out order:
• Recognizing the problem or situation
• Producing a variety of solutions
• Identify the consequences
• Choosing a solution
• Evaluating and implementing the solution
This is a cognitive process and each step is followed in a specific order and seems to be the most common approach used in making decision (Carmeli, Sheaffer & Halevi, 2009). In my professional and personal experience, I find it necessary to ask myself questions to help make my decision making easier and effective. For
