Personal Responsibility

Personal responsibility to me is about taking control of my life. In order to take control of my life I need to have a set plan and set goals, manage my time and organize my life. Good planning means getting organized mentally and prioritizing. Having a planner or calendar to keep deadlines, commitments, assignments will assist me in focusing on the best ways I can succeed in college.

Managing time with family, work, and school plays a key role in succeeding. Although it is one of the key roles to my success, I also feel like this will be one of my biggest obstacles as well. As a single mother or 3 children, working a fulltime job and managing my home I have high stress levels with trying to make ends meet and maintaining everything on my own. After working a full day at work and dealing with stressors there I have to come home to children that demand all of my attention its difficult to even imagine having to study and do homework on top of everything else. But in order to obtain my degree I realize that I have to be committed to school and to myself to make time and put forth the extra effort. I realize that I have made a personal decision to go back to school and get the degree I have always wanted and its up to me and only my to make it happen.

Some people think they are too smart or so intelligent that they don’t need to take personal responsibility to succeed and that their degree is just going to get handed to them with out any efforts because that is what has always been the case for them, but I know I need to make changes and stick to them to get what I want. I also know you can really only get out of something what you put into it.

In conclusion, I am taking control of my life, I am taking personal responsibility for my success in college.
