...The association between moral foundation and political orientation in Australia: Do the American studies carry over to an Australian Population? HAYDEN TIPPING -100594202 Swinburne University of Technology Psych 101-Assesment 1 Due Date: 31st August 2015 Tutorial: Thursday 4.30-5.30 Introduction Political preferences seem an obvious topic of research, as the findings of such research are highly sought after. As such any research relating to what motivates political orientation would be very useful. For this reason a great deal of research into the relationship between moral foundation and political orientation has been done in recent years. For this study political orientation is measured using a 7-point scale from liberal to conservative. Liberal being characterised by an emphasis on social and political liberty, holding ideals of equity, individualism, liberty and rationalism (Ballamy, 2015, pp.26-31). Conservative is characterised by an emphasis on traditional class systems and government control (Sigmund, 2015, pp. 689-691). For this study moral foundation is measured by a scale from the moral foundations questionnaire (MFQ)(Graham Et Al, 2011). This is derived from Haidt and Joseph’s Moral foundations theory (MFT) (2004). Although the original theory has 4 foundations, the MFQ revolves of five different categories. Them being Harm / Care, Fairness / Reciprocity, Ingroup / Loyalty, Authority / Respect, and Purity / Sanctity (Graham Et Al, 2011). Previous research in this...

This paper analyzes her Director position and presents a recruitment process adapted from Pilbeam & Corbridge (2006). Upon learning of the director’s job description and required qualifications of candidates interested in taking over her position, a job advertisement is created to attract qualified candidates. They are thoroughly screened if they have the right educational qualifications and work experience. ...he Beck Depression Inventory (BDI, BDI-1A, BDI-II), created by Aaron T. Beck, is a 21-question multiple-choice self-report inventory, one of the most widely used instruments for measuring the severity of depression. Its development marked a shift among health care professionals, who had until then viewed depression from a psychodynamic perspective, instead of it being rooted in the patient's own thoughts. In its current version the questionnaire is designed for individuals aged 13 and over, and is composed of items relating to symptoms of depression such as hopelessness and irritability, cognitions such as guilt or feelings of being punished, as well as physical symptoms such as fatigue, weight loss, and lack of interest in sex.[1] There are three versions of the BDI—the original BDI, first published in 1961 and later revised in 1978 as the BDI-1A, and the BDI-II, published in 1996. The BDI is widely used as an assessment tool by health care professionals and researchers in a variety of settings. The BDI was used as a model for the development of the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), first published in 1979 by clinical psychologist Maria Kovacs.[2] Contents [hide] * 1 Development and history * 1.1 BDI * 1.2 BDI-IA * 1.3 BDI-II * 2 Two-factor approach to depression * 3 Impact * 4 Limitations * 5 See also * 6 Notes * 7 Further reading * 8 External links ------------------------------------------------- Development...

...NEGIGENCE In the 1928 edition of Bevan on Negligence stated that negligence is “it has to deal……with duties as they appear when the normal standard of performance is not attained…considering defaults in conduct, and only in the second place with the adequate discharge of obligations”. 1. DUTY OF CARE Gleeson CJ and Gummow J, the approach to determine a duty of care is to identify the “salient features” that combine to constitute a sufficiently close relationship to give rise to a duty of care. Reasonably foreseeable: - It is reasonably foreseeable that any carelessness on the part of the defendant could harm the plaintiff. Did the defendant’s act impart harm “that you could reasonably foresee would be likely to injure your neighbour”? (Donoghue v Stevenson). Incremental Approach: 1. type of relationship between the parties; a) the vulnerability of the plantiff, b) degree of control of defendant, c) special knowledge of the defendant of the plaintiff’s situation. 2. the type of loss or injury (physical, psychiatric, economic) 3. policy and; 4. physical, casual and circumstantial proximity may still be used (Kirby, Modbury triangle shopping centre pty ltd v Anzil) “proximity is the best notion yet devised by the law to delineate the relationship of negibour” Proximity test involves a notion of nearness in the relationship between the parties. as a principle stated in Rylands v Flectcher, “identifying the categories of case…rather than a test for determining...

Perhaps that’s why. The first and still the only in the clergy association. Or maybe it is because of where she is from. No one from San Francisco had come to live here before. Occasionally an outsider moved to this town, in the northern tier of the state, but the flow is almost always in the other direction, away from, not into. And the few that do come to stay aren’t from California, a place that to this day, decades after it had long faded, is believed to be an incubator for radical lifestyles and subversive politics. 4 Arthur Dobrin Or perhaps her name—Ailanthus—a strange one, where here, if you are named after flora it is Rose or Violet or another sweet smelling flower that could be grown in the garden. It must be a name given to her by a hippie mother, a band given to bestowing peculiar names on their children. No one knows of a girl being named after a tree. They never heard of an ailanthus...
