The Thematic Apperception Test or TAT was first developed in 1935 by Henry Murray and Christiana Morgan at the Harvard Psychological Clinic. It is based in the psychodynamic theories of personality. The TAT is administered as part of a group of tests intended to evaluate personality. Through using a standardized format or through assessing yourself more directly the answers may change from day-to-day or month to month. People behave differently in varying situations through tracking personalities many inconsistences are found. Whether someone is given a structured interview or a personality inventory may not matter when the individual has learned and adapted. Personality inventories such as the NEO-PI-R or big 5 are based on the trait theory of personality. This theory stands for a more factored analysis that holds group traits accountable for personal behaviors. One example of trait in this theory is a person’s tendency to be aggressive. Eysenck’s theory based on traits claimed there were areas of personality; emotional stability, introversion-extroversion, and psychoticism. ...Throughout my years of growing up, I had came across many personality assessments in my life, yet none of them had got me thinking that I was looking in to a personality trait mirror, until this one. I discovered that most of the traits had given feedback very accurately and among these traits, the most accurate one of all was ‘extraversion’, it stated exactly who I feel I portray; a sociable, energetic, outgoing and lively person that enjoys being around people as much as they love to be around me. The only traits that caught my attention was my ‘activity level’ and ‘gregariousness’ because the two results somewhat contradicted themselves. Gregariousness describes a person who is fond of the company of others and I scored 96 out of a possible 99 points. Yet I only scored 32 points for my ‘activity level’ which defines whether individuals live active, fast paced and busy lives. ‘Gregariousness’ scored as my top trait, which means that I would find the company of others very rewarding, which is true because much of my time spent is with someone or seeking someone for company. On the contrary, I only received an average score for ‘activity level’ which I feel is too low because my life is considered to be fast paced as I always try to finish as many tasks as fast as possible to allocate more time to fulfill my gregariousness.
