Personality Reflection

Using the textbook, the University Library, the Internet, and/or other resources, answer the following questions. Your responses to each question will vary but overall should be 700- to 1,050-words in length.

1. How would you define personality? Personality is made up of a characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that make a person unique. Personality arises within the individual and remains fairly consistent throughout life. Quality or condition of being person. The pattern of collective character, behavioral, temperamental, emotional and mental traits of a person. The total of quality and traits, as a character or behavior, that a peculiar to a specific person.

2. What are some key personality features that define you? I believe the top six of my personality features are; shy, hardworker, truthful, caring, good listener and forgiving.
1. Shy- I am a very quiet person I stay to myself and do not like to stand out. I am shy to get up in front of class and do a presentation. If I am in a group and everyone is all talking majority of the time I will just sit and listen, I may say a few words but not much.
2. Hardworker- I am a supervisor at my job and one thing that I expect from my employees is that if they see me working they better be working just as hard as I am. The material things I have in my life came from me proving myself at my job. Hardly working is not an option. The only way you will get somewhere in life or even to have a good job is by working hard.
3. Truthful- I do not like it when someone lies to me. I feel the best way to have good communication is honesty. Once you tell a little white lie you will have to cover that one up with another lie. The best policy is just to be honest and truthful, no matter how painful it may be to hear the truth.
4. Caring- I have a very soft heart for anyone that may be in pain. It hearts my heart to see anyone in pain or going through a difficult situation. I like to comfort the one’s I love if they are having a bad day. I have six grandchildren and I spoil them so much. But when they are feeling bad I just love on them even more.
5. Good listener- this is where my sister, niece and my daughter come in the picture. No matter what they feel that when they need someone to talk to they call me. I will listen until they are done getting what they need to say out. I may give some advice, but I know when they call they want to get something off their chest.
6. Forgiving- I have been through so much in my life with my ex-husband. So many terrible things done to me. I had anger once upon a time over the situation, but today we can talk on the phone and laugh together. People say how can you be friends with him. Like I tell them what happened is the past, I will not let the past try to run my future. Forgiving is a part of life, like the saying goes “You can forgive but you won’t forget”.

3. What key concepts or “constructs” are used to explain your personality? My key is being introvert even though I do not say much, when I get upset I can be very outspoken, because being shy sometimes people think they can get over on you. But they soon find out the quiet people are the ones you watch out for.

4. Are your personality features consistent or do they change according to the situation? My personality features I would say stay the same. Because I am pretty laid back, and something very, very bad would have to make me change in a different mood. Even if I am upset I am still shy, I will still care if something is going wrong with my loved ones, I will still listen if someone calls me, now if they make me mad I probably would not forgive them right at the moment, but eventually I would forgive them. I feel that God made everyone with different personalities, you have some people that have snobby personalities, some with no feelings and so one. I am satisfied with my personalities because I feel that I am a kind and caring person. I try to see good in everyone, but everyone is not.

5. Have you ever taken a personality test before? If so, what was your reaction to the analysis? If not, what would you expect a proper test to measure? I have taken a personality test and from the results I was not surprised. The test showed that I was an Introvert which did not surprise me. It showed that I was caring, loyal and forgiving. These are things that I already knew so the test just was accurate about my personality.

6. What would make a personality test reliable and valid? If the person was real about taking the test and answering the question of who they really are instead of answering the questions about who they want to be. If they stay real to themselves the test would be reliable, but some people have personalities within in them that they may not like, so they may not answer truthfully.

According to the textbook the definition of personality psychology is “the scientific study of psychological forces that make people uniquely themselves (Friedman, p.1)”. My interpretation of personality would be the way a person acts or behaves which may be caused by predispositioned forces such as genetics or nature. A person has the ability to act however they feel like acting but may have a learned way of acting. One example of this would be if a person is raised in a family where the child learns not to look adults in the eye, when they get older they may be observed as shy or introverted for the simple fact that they have learned to look down when talking to someone. 2. What are some key personality features that define you? There are many different features that define me as a person some of them are good and some of them are bad, like all people. My key features for personality would be my extroversion or outgoingness, my intelligence, and my honesty however I am also anxious, and moody which may be considered negative personality features. Your responses to each question will vary but overall should be 700- to 1,050-words in length. 1. How would you define personality? * For me, personality is the only way in which individuals live and behave in life. It is the way in which individuals face the challenges and challenges that life presents. It may be that part of this personality is hereditary but nevertheless mindset as faces life decisions, how to cope in society, including the way we learn and interact are unique features of our personality. The personality of each is unique, there cannot be two people have the same personality and are completely alike. This is because you cannot be two people who have had the same kind of parenting or who have gone through similar circumstances under the same conditions in which they have taken the same solutions. Each person has a unique way of solving their problems or address them as the case. Our thoughts are another feature of our personality, and we can share ideas with other people, but we cannot make them think like us that each faces differently every situation in life. When I think of personality I think of how a person behaves or acts when I am around them. Are they shy, outgoing, happy, sad, angry, mean, nice, etc.? I would define personality as the way a person acts towards others and how they feel and behave in certain situations. Personality, in my opinion, is also defined by facial expressions and gestures that a person may make with their body. After coming up with my own definition of personality, I looked it up online and the definition that I found at mirriam-webster.com (2013), indicates that personality is the set of emotional qualities, ways of behaving, etc., that makes a person different from other people. 2. What are some key personality features that define you? Some of the key personality features that define me are caring, outgoing, honest, confident and fun. The Carpenter's Wife - a Critical Essay

... She wears highly decorative clothing of embroidered silk rather than a more practical linen or wool. Even her purse, an object that only has to carry belongings, is decorated with silk tassels and “perled with latoun” (line 143). The apron she wears at first suggests some sense of practicality, as she does not want to dirty the clothes beneath it, but it is described as “whit as morne milk” (line 128), which shows the opposite: that this is another ornamental object that is as unsoiled as the rest of her clothing. The unstained white of her apron and undergarments give her the outward appearance of purity, while the reader knows that internally she is far from pure. Following the account of Alison's clothing comes a brief personality description. Rather...

Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper

...To learn about communication and being able to work with other people, you should learn each person’s learning style and personality style. There are three different learning styles: visual learners, auditory learners, and tactile/kinesthetic learners. To better understand each style we will look more closely at each individual sytle. First, lets look at visual learners. Visual learners learn best through seeing. Visual learners learn best by seeing facial expressions and by seeing body language. They also tend to sit in the front of classrooms or meetings to avoid distractions (example: people’s bodies blocking their views). Visual learners do better when they have displays they can see (example: videos, illustrated textbooks, and handouts). Visual learners usually take very detailed notes during lectures or discussions. This way they are able to take in and remember more information. The second type of learning style is auditory learners. Auditory learners learn best through listening. Auditory learners tend to talk things through, listen to lectures, listening to what other people say, and verbal discussions. Because they learn through listening, written information does not help them until it is voiced out loud. They also tend to use a tape recorder during lectures so that they can re-play the tape later and better absorb the information. The third type of learning style is tactile/kinesthetic learners. Tactile/kinesthetic learners learn best through touching, moving...

Macon keeps to his systems, while Sarah wants them to make decisions together. “What harm would it do to wait it out? You’d be showing some concern. You’d be telling me we’re in this together” (4). Macon replies, “I’ve got a system, Sarah. You know I drive according to a system” (4). She can come off as being over dramatic at times, and somewhat annoying, but that could possibly be because we are used to Macon’s mundane personality. Public Relations Profession

...Laurie Ewart J3400 Reflection Paper #1 9/18/13 Secondary Research-Chapter 5 As public relations professional, research would be one of the most important aspects of your career. Research should be your first step before launching a new product or marketing plan. If you fail to do the research first, you risk wasting a great deal of time and money on your project. Researching your target marketing is a huge benefit. Secondary research is essentially a summary of data that has already been collected. If you have a question to answer you can easily access the data and analyze it in order to get the answer you are looking for. This is opposed to primary data, which you would have to conduct new research to get the information you need. While secondary research seems to take much less effort, it still had its advantages and disadvantages. One of the main advantages to secondary research is that it is cost and time effective. Since you will not have to conduct the research you would have very little money and time in simply accessing the data from another source. The amount of time you would save by not conducting research you can now spend on analyzing data or any other areas of your plan that it is needed. Another advantage to secondary research is that you have several different sources that you can utilize to find your data. There are many websites that offer this type of information. One of the largest drawbacks of secondary research is that the results are usually...
