He was raised from the dead as a guarantee of the believer’s resurrection. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep (1 Corinthians 15:20). Christ has to die as a mortal to be resurrected and never to die again. His resurrection is proof that Christians that have died would eventually come back to life and live forever. With Christ having come back from the dead, the believer’s resurrection is guaranteed. This is the glorious hope of eternal life promised to all that would believe in Him. Concerning Christ’s resurrection, Keller (2009) reasoned: If Jesus rose from the dead then you have to accept all He said; if He didn’t rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what He said? …show more content…
For we do not have a high priest Who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one Who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:15 – 16). Jesus Christ in His humanity experienced trials, sufferings and temptations. Therefore, He was able to identify with mankind. For only a human could sympathize with mankind having gone through trials, sufferings and temptations personally. Moreover, when tempted, Jesus Christ overcame, thence He is able to aid those who are tempted (Hebrews 2:18). In Him, Christians find a merciful, faithful, and sympathetic High Priest. “Cling to Jesus, because in him we have a high priest who was appointed by God to be sympathetic with our human plight” (Grant, …show more content…
In fact, one’s eternal destiny depends on one’s confession of Him. The one who does not believe Jesus is the Son of God does not have eternal life (1 John 5:11 - 12), and the person who denies the humanity of Jesus is the deceiver and the anti-Christ (2 John 1:7). Through the centuries, liberals, critics and scholars alike have challenged the truth of Jesus’ nature. Whatever the challenge, the Christian Church just has to return to the testimony of the Holy Scriptures that affirmed Jesus’ deity and humanity. At Chalcedon in A.D 451, the Church council convened to excogitate one of the most complete statements of the teaching on the Person of Christ. An excerpt of it

Preface This isn’t really a teacher’s manual, not, at least, in the sense of a catechism of questions and correct answers and interpretations. Because the questions provided after each selection in Rereading America are meant to stimulate dialogue and debate — to generate rather than terminate discourse — they rarely lend themselves to a single appropriate response. So, while we’ll try to clarify what we had in mind when framing a few of the knottier questions, we won’t be offering you a list of “right” answers. Instead, regard this manual as your personal support group. Since the publication of the first edition, we’ve had the chance to learn from the experiences of hundreds of instructors nationwide, and we’d like to use this manual as a forum where we can share some of their concerns, suggestions, experiments, and hints. We’ll begin with a roundtable on issues you’ll probably want to address before you meet your class. In the first section of this manual, we’ll discuss approaches to...
