People always say “it’s better to regret something you did than not doing it”or “live life with no regrets.” Although I agree with these statements I never really gave them much thought until I joined color guard at my school. In my freshman one of upperclassmen had told me that I should join colorguard, but since I had no interest, I quickly shot down the idea. Once again in the spring of my sophomore year my friend, Rachel, asked me to join the colorguard team. She had always talked extravagantly about color guard, and how amazing it is. At first I had no intentions of joining I was already playing soccer and colorguard did not seem interesting to me. So I settled on telling her that I would go to the workshops and decide then, even though I had already decided that I was not going to join. After the workshops I could not help but think, I am going to lose an amazing experience if I drop out now. Joining guard made me have a whole new family of 350 people all working toward the same goal, to perform our show in the best way possible. Color guard yields hard work, tears, laughter, sweat, pain and, teamwork. It has given me tools I'm sure will get me through the rocky times life has in store. I am very proud that I joined colorguard. It has led me to see that I should try new things and challenge myself even if it is not my norm.
