Kids and Mature video games. Video games have gotten very popular over time, although some kids cannot enjoy certain games because they aren't old enough, I believe that is not fair. Kids should be insisted to play shooting video games because it can greatly improve physical and emotional hand eye coordination. Minors should be able to buy any game they want by themselves, only person that should be allowed to say no is their parents. Finally there is no correlation between video games and video games, video games do not entice kids to kill or be violent. Many believe minors should be monitored when it comes to video games, I disagree. Recent studies have shown that in fact shooting video games improve hand eye coordination. I am living proof

Violent Video Games

...Violent Video Games Should not be Banned By Chris Taylor Com/156 Effective Persuasive Essay August 1, 2010 Violent Video Games should not be Banned Violent video games that promote violence and criminal activity should not be banned because each game is properly labeled. It is the parent’s responsibility to monitor their children on what games they play and for how long they play the games. Numerous surveys have been taken that show games can enhance certain learning abilities and not cause violence. Violent video games are meant for adults and banning these games takes away the right of freedom of expression from the adult. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) provides concise and impartial information about the content in computer and video games so parents can make a clear informed purchase. (www.esrb.org/ratings) ESRB provides ratings for each game that is distributed. These ratings have two equal parts: Rating symbols and content descriptors. Rating symbols on the front of the package provide age limits on who should be allowed to play the game. Age appropriateness is clearly marked and those younger than that should be monitored. The rating system used is the same system that TV shows and movies use to rate their content. Content descriptors which are located on the back of the package indicate elements in a game. These descriptors are C (early childhood), E (for everyone), E 10+ (everyone 10+), T (for teens), M (mature 17+), A (adults only)...

Consumer Behavior

...increase in the number of available television channels has led to smaller audiences for each channel, digital interactive technologies have simultaneously opened new routes to narrow cast to children, thereby creating a growing media space just for children and children’s products. Calvert explains that paid advertising to children primarily involves television spots that feature toys and food products, most of which are high in fat and sugar and low in nutritional value. Newer marketing approaches have led to online advertising and to so-called stealth marketing techniques, such as embedding products in the program content in films, online, and in video games. All these marketing strategies, says Calvert, make children younger than eight especially vulnerable because they lack the cognitive skills to understand the persuasive intent of television and online advertisements. The new stealth techniques can also undermine the consumer defenses even of older children and adolescents. Calvert explains that government regulations implemented by the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission provide some protection for children from advertising and marketing practices. Regulators exert more control over content on scarce television...

...this situation sounds familiar, you may find it reassuring to know that many professionals undergo these same strange compulsions before they begin writing. Jean Kerr, author of Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, admits that she often finds herself in the kitchen reading soup-can labels—or anything—in order to prolong the moments before taking pen in hand. John C. Calhoun, vice president under Andrew Jackson, insisted he had to plow his fields before he could write, and Joseph Conrad, author of Lord Jim and other novels, is said to have cried on occasion from the sheer dread of sitting down to compose his stories. To spare you as much hand-wringing as possible, this chapter presents some practical suggestions on how to begin writing your short essay. Although all writers must find the methods that work best for them, you may find some of the following ideas helpful. But no matter how you actually begin putting words on paper, it is absolutely essential to maintain two basic ideas concerning your writing task. Before you write a single sentence, you should always remind yourself that 1. You have some valuable ideas to tell your reader, and 2. More than anything, you want to communicate those ideas to your reader. These reminders may seem obvious to you, but without a solid commitment to your own opinions as well as to your reader, your prose will be lifeless and boring. If you don’t care about your subject, you can’t very well expect anyone else to. Have confidence that your ideas are...

...Abstract In this project we intend to identity the marketing the marketing mix, the social responsibility in marketing, develop the concept of ethic in marketing components of marketing and how each of them can subject of unethical practices. Definition of the marketing: Marketing is the process by which companies create value for customers and build strong customer relationships in order to capture value from customers in return. For example, “Walmart” has become the world’s largest retailer—and the world’s largest Company—by delivering on its promise, “Save money, Live better.” Nintendo surged ahead in the video-games market behind the pledge that “Wii would like to play,” backed by its wildly popular” Wii” console and a growing list of popular games and accessories for all ages. And McDonald’s fulfills its “i’m lovin’ it” motto by being “our customers’ favorite place and way to eat” the world over, giving it a market share greater than that of its nearest three competitors combined (Philip kotler, 2012, 2010, 2009) Definition of the marketing mix is the set of tactical marketing tools that the firm blends to produce the response it wants in the target market. Learning with Technology

...Learning with Technology Evidence that technology can, and does, support learning. A white paper prepared for Cable in the Classroom James M. Marshall, Ph.D. San Diego State University May 2002 Executive Summary “We’ve wired the schools — now what?” This question resonates with educators, and troubles them at the same time. After countless local and national efforts have boosted the infrastructure of our schools, the significant issues now arise. Should we continue to pump money into educational technology for our schools? Do computers really help students learn? How can students and teachers best learn from the World Wide Web and its content? These questions are not new, nor unique to the dawn of Internet-connected schools. Earlier technologies, from textbook and illustration to film, television, and multimedia computer, have prompted similar ponderings. If technology is to have a significant role in schools, we need assurance that it works. More emphatically, we need confidence that use of educational technology results in learning. Research, both historical and contemporary, suggests that technology-based instruction can and does result in learning. Witness these examples of television, multimedia, and computer technologies delivering content to support learning: • Watching the television program Blue’s Clues has strong effects on developing preschool viewers’ flexible thinking, problem solving, and prosocial behaviors (Bryant, Mullikin, McCollum...

PREFACE Rationale We agreed to produce the instructor’s manual for the sixth edition of A First Look at Communication Theory because it’s a first-rate book and because we enjoy talking and writing about pedagogy. Yet when we recall the discussions we’ve had with colleagues about instructor’s manuals over the years, two unnerving comments stick with us: “I don’t find them much help”; and (even worse) “I never look at them.” And, if the truth be told, we were often the people making such points! With these statements in mind, we have done some serious soul-searching about the texts that so many teachers—ourselves...

...involves forced simulated drowning. Less remarkable, perhaps, but possibly more relevant for most of us, we’ve heard the term “downsized” used when someone is fired or laid off. “Ethnic cleansing” covers everything from deportation to genocide. What we have to say may be important, but the words we choose to say it with can be equally important. The examples just given are cases of a certain type of linguistic coercion—an attempt to get us to adopt a particular attitude toward a subject that, if described differently, would seem less attractive to us. Words have tremendous persuasive power, or what we have called their rhetorical force or emotive meaning—their power to express and elicit images, feelings, and emotional associations. In the next few chapters, we examine some of the most common rhetorical techniques used to affect people’s attitudes, opinions, and behavior. Rhetoric refers to the study of persuasive writing. As we use the term, it denotes a broad category of linguistic techniques people use Moore−Parker: Critical Thinking, Ninth Edition 5. Persuasion Through Rhetoric: Common Devices and...
