Do you know that in the state of Florida sending messages and talking on the phone while driving is a secondary offense? Ironically, this means that an officer cannot stop a driver for only texting or talking on the phone, it has to accompany by a second infraction, such as driving with excess speed or not respect traffic signals. While this law continues to be a secondary offense and has not given the proper attention it requires; it will result in the excessive ascent of fatal accidents, and the lives of its innocent citizens are in danger of being invested by an irresponsible driver. Clearly, with this law actively working and with zero tolerance, we would have a tremendous impact on an entire community. Drastically, the unjustifiable amount of fatal accidents would reduce since the denominator factor is the tragic death of children, adolescents, and entire families due of unarmed drivers and with no sense of responsibility and respect for other people's lives. Even, many young people lose their lives at such an early age due to excessive phone abuse while driving, taking away their dreams and the possibility of enjoying the beautiful things in life. In addition, we would help families to remain together and to appreciate their loved ones, also, little peace to those parents in which their children begin to experience the dream of driving. In general, the following data will make us understand much better why it is so crucial that this law is reformed and put into practice in our community; according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, approximately 50,000 crashes involving distracted driving and more than 3,000 bodily severe injuries and 200 fatalities occurred last year. In conclusion, when thousands of human lives are in danger due to the excessive irresponsibility of unscrupulous drivers, we must feel compelled to fight for a better change where the safety of our families is the

...According to the website NPR, vehicle deaths more common if people are going 40 mph, and less common if they are going 20 mph. Therefore there is an 80% chance of getting in an accident. After hearing that fact, do you think texting while driving should be illegal? My opinion is that it should because more than 11,000 people have died from texting and walking. In the news there was a 14 and 15 year old that got killed for being on there phones. They reduced speed limit around schools and on highways, and other types of streets to try to reduce the amount of accidents. The government reduced the speed limit between 20 and 40 mph.TO try to limit the accidents. They especially did it around schools so that pedestrians can be safer and more careful about how they drive. They especially did it around colleges and high schools since you are just learning how to drive. Since more than 11,000 people died from vehicle accidents the government should had automatically made a law. They should have agreed to make a law before the number even hit 11,000. If there is a message or an important phone call that you need to take you should pull to the side and take it, or wait until you actually get to the destination that you have to go to and then reply. It you do this as a result you can get to the place you have to go to quicker and safer....

Texting and driving has become an epidemic and is extraordinarily dangerous, one cop says that in some cases he has found it difficult to discern between an intoxicated and a distracted driver while on his patrols. This poses a risk for our children, members of society, and to other drivers, as well as yourself. The law itself, the policy and its makers, and the benefits/hardships that accompany enforcing such a law are all necessary to discuss when formulating an opinion. Use of the cell phone is now prohibited after a new law went...

And while we act like something that horrible would never happen to one of us, well we surely are in for a shock when you get into a head on collision with another car. Sending a text while driving takes a minimum of five seconds, depending on what you text of course, but a lot of things could happen within the amount of time it takes you to send that text that was more important than watching the road. The time that your eyes are off the road is enough for a car to pull out in front of you. You weren’t paying attention and you crash. Maybe there were children in the car. Maybe it was an elderly couple. Maybe you will never find out because it’s you who dies. Studies show that texting and driving is a big temptation for teenagers. More than 13% of 18-20 year old drivers involved in car wrecks admitted to texting or talking on the phone at the time of the crash. 77% of young adult drivers are confident in their texting and driving skills. Persuasive Essay About Texting And Driving

...My generation was raised around the concern of driving under the influence. They showed commercials, advertisements, and even sketches at school about its diverse risks. Drinking and driving stood one of the leading distresses of the era. Over the past decade, however, cell phones have become smaller and more convenient. Society and cellular devices have become one, like a dependence; lost without their phones in hand. Once texting developed into the craze of the decade, everything changed. Texting and driving became a major deal, with people oblivious to the destruction it was initiating around them. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), driving while texting is six times more dangerous than driving while intoxicated. They continue by stating that receiving a text takes a driver’s eyes from the road for an average of 4.6 seconds. If you are traveling at 55 mph, which is the equivalent of driving the length of a football field while blindfolded (Prof. David J. Hanson, n.d.). Now place yourself in the same situation, but on a highway containing turns and various other cars. Would you feel safe if you saw a blindfolded driver headed in your direction? Countless people don’t take these things into consideration when they are in the act of texting and driving....

How Students Feel About Texting and Driving

...Rebecca Schwartz Professor John Connor Arguments & Persuasion 23 February 2013 How Students Feel About Texting And Driving New Jersey has a Cell Phone & Driving law that affects all of its citizens. This law attempts to make the road a safer place, so it affects the lives of pedestrians and those who don’t own cell phones too, because everyone is in danger when a driver isn’t paying attention. In my Argument and Persuasion course, we are discussing this Cell Phone & Driving law, causing the class to take different sides. As opinions become more and more divided, I realize that this issue is very controversial. The New Jersey Cell Phone Law prohibits drivers from using handheld phones while driving. You may, however, use a speakerphone, a Bluetooth, a headset, or install a car kit. If you are caught using your cell phone while driving, you will be fined 100 dollars, and it is a “primary law” meaning that the officer doesn’t need a reason other than seeing your cell phone out to pull you over. Personally, I feel that the 100-dollar fine is too lenient. I have a friend who recently had his car towed out of a parking lot, and was fined 100 dollars, the same amount for using your cell phone and driving. I don't think the fine should be the same for something that is potentially life threating and something that is not. I think the fine should be between $500 and $1000. However, I recognize that not everyone agrees with me; some of my classmates think that the...

Technology is now the forefront of the modern world creating new jobs, innovations, and networking sites to allow individuals to connect globally. It’s much easier to communicate with others than it was just decade ago. This has improved our lives in many ways by allowing us to become more interconnected and knowledgeable about the world. In nearly every corner of the world, we cannot walk down the street without seeing someone talking, texting, or surfing the Internet on their cell phones, laptops or tablet Pc’s. Ten years ago, the only way for people to communicate with each other was meeting face to face or writing letters. However, people living or working in different countries might be unable to meet each other. It cost more money for travelling and sending letters if people lived too far from others. Now days, we are happy with the advance of new technologies such as email, cellular phones, television, etc. Technology...
