Persuasive Essay On Why I Believe In Open Gyms

I believe in open gyms. Whether it’s going there to practice my game, because I’m bored, or just to get my mind of things - I’m always excited to go and plan to stay there awhile. Having the liberty of the entire court and choosing whatever you want to do makes it feel so free. You get to decide what happens here. If it’s meeting up with some other guys or just going by yourself, it doesn't matter, but everything's up to you. There’s no wrong choice and everyone can do something different. Putting your earbuds in to just relax and practice your shot is one of many valid decisions you can make. You focus on your struggles to make yourself better for future games to come. Dedicating your time and sweat to this sport is shaping the person you are going to be. Practice is the only way to improve, and that will only happen at the gym. Come here to work as hard as you can at the sport you love to play. Coming to relax is also an equal choice. Having only the sounds of bouncing basketballs and constant squeaking of shoes is peaceful to some. …show more content…
Talking some playful trash-talk here and there to make things interesting just add to the fun. You can play with a group of friends, or even complete strangers; the experience will still be the same and as enjoyable. Competitive or not, everyone's there to do one thing and that’s to play basketball. Open gyms are opening the door for you to meet new people and to see what they’re like. After the games of 21 are over, get to know your opponent. Being asked to a game of 1 on 1 should be a way to get to know someone. Getting to see every move your opponent has to score on you and whether they have a knockdown shot or not. Wins and losses don’t matter here so don’t get upset if someone beats

...this situation sounds familiar, you may find it reassuring to know that many professionals undergo these same strange compulsions before they begin writing. Jean Kerr, author of Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, admits that she often finds herself in the kitchen reading soup-can labels—or anything—in order to prolong the moments before taking pen in hand. John C. Calhoun, vice president under Andrew Jackson, insisted he had to plow his fields before he could write, and Joseph Conrad, author of Lord Jim and other novels, is said to have cried on occasion from the sheer dread of sitting down to compose his stories. To spare you as much hand-wringing as possible, this chapter presents some practical suggestions on how to begin writing your short essay. Although all writers must find the methods that work best for them, you may find some of the following ideas helpful. But no matter how you actually begin putting words on paper, it is absolutely essential to maintain two basic ideas concerning your writing task. Before you write a single sentence, you should always remind yourself that 1. You have some valuable ideas to tell your reader, and 2. More than anything, you want to communicate those ideas to your reader. These reminders may seem obvious to you, but without a solid commitment to your own opinions as well as to your reader, your prose will be lifeless and boring. If you don’t care about your subject, you can’t very well expect anyone else to. Have confidence that your ideas are...

They address dozens of different essay topics. The applicants and their essays have been selected to give you the widest possible range of materials from which to profit. The first four applicants all applied to the University of Chicago. They were chosen by Chicago’s admissions director, Don Martin, according to my desire that they be from four very different people and of average quality for those admitted. In other words, these essays will show you exactly what you are competing against. They are of perfectly acceptable quality, but they should not discourage you. If you follow the lessons of this book you should be able to surpass each of these efforts. The second set of three applicants—Melissa, Doreen, and Carol—is taken from Columbia University’s files. Columbia’s admissions director, Linda Meehan, was asked to supply several applications, again from people of widely differing backgrounds, but this time of superior quality. I think that this group’s applications are of a somewhat higher...

Theories of Marketing

...Theories of Marketing Week 1 – lecture 1 History of marketing 1. Production : supplying markets 2. Selling: convince people that what the organization happen to have is what they need. 3. marketing : let’s ask people what they want and then produce it. What can I make that will serve my customers better? It needs to be something relevant, innovative or unique MKG definition it’s all about sales and market share : it doesn’t say anything about relationship NOW : how can I create value so I will be able to sale more, it’s the only way to survive. To stay alive you need to have a lot of capabilities and tools to survive What is marketing? Marketing includes more than just needs, it’s concerned with providing the right product to the right person at the right moment. That way it creates value. This way it also incorporates innovation. Functions & processes/activities are the things we do to deliver customer value. These can be strategic and tactical. History of marketing thought - philosophy *  Production orientation, huge production lines trying to find bigger markets. Its all about efficient distribution. Demand is huge, supply was very small, they didn’t care about colour for example. Marketing was all about getting your product efficiently to the consumer. Marketing is a very contextual science, how do we deal with circumstances, and how do we become successful in these circumstances. *  Selling orientation, extra activities...
