Memo MEMO From: Special Emergency Commission Team To: Best Game Productions CEO Subject: Strategy to solve the current dilemma Date: June 14, 2013

During the past weeks our team has established a comprehensive discussion between all the internal stakeholders of the company, including the developers team, the financial department, and the marketing department. The interests and concerns of everyone have been considered and analyzed. Finally, our team has generated a solution that could solve the current problem without sacrificing the interests and priorities of anyone, specially the customers. The strategy to solve the problem is to release the video game in the date that was set initially which is the day that the customers are already awaiting for. However the box will contain a game that is locked and that will be unlocked after two weeks. The box will include a unique credential with a hologram for authenticity and this card will contain the login information for entering a virtual on line environment that our developers team is designing. In this virtual environment the users will be able to train, learn to use the game, navigate through the maps, understand the rules and general mechanics of the game and become experts users that are ready to engage in the action. After the two weeks of the “training season” the corrected version of the game will be ready to download or to be distributed to the video game retailers that will provide a copy to the customers that present their original credential. The customer will ask: Why can I not play right away? Why do I have to wait? The reason is the following: after the two weeks of the training season, a world wide championship will start and will last 24 hours. In those 24 hours the users will be able to download the game and start competing against other users that are networking. The top 100 gamers will be invited for a conference in which a championship will be celebrated and the winner will receive a 50'000 dollars prize. So this is the rationale for the delayed delivery of the game: to give the users the opportunity to train to be ready for the challenge and have the chance to get to the final or even the major prize. Since many of the customers will be interested in playing right away, we will include in the video game box a copy of one of our older best seller games that is no longer providing significant revenue. Therefore the users that do not want to compete and therefore are not great fanatics will be able to play a quality game while they await for the deliver of the unlocked game. The rationale is that the customer receives two games for the price of one and also the opportunity to compete in the challenge. Please let our team know what you think about our idea.

Tools to measure the effectiveness of the consultant communication.

Two main tools will be used to gauge the effectiveness of the communications: • Attached electronic survey: With each formal communication between the heads of the different departments and the special commission a copy of an electronic survey will be attached. The survey is non intrusive and only requires 5 minutes to be filled out, and then it can be sent electronically to our team, which will be able to graph the results (through software that process the results automatically) and be alert if there is a critical value about certain issue, in such case a more comprehensive communication or a meeting will be scheduled. The survey is neutral and is designed to be positive and creative, focused on solutions instead of specific persons. The results will be evaluated with the same frame of mind: creative and solution oriented. • Daily Morning Call: Out team will call everyday the different departments of the company early in the morning and will ask about new updates, suggestions and requests that might have emerged in the previous hours (or late hours of the previous afternoon) and that could be of great value to adapt the design of the strategy that the special commission is designing. The call does not endorse any compromise and is also oriented to identify problems and find solutions, in this sense the call is entirely operative and not evaluative.

...possible solutions and come to a consensus well supported by accounting rules and pronouncements. There are many solutions to the cases, some better (or more in line with the pronouncements) than others. I look forward to your explorations with untainted young minds to come up with mesmerizing solutions. Any consultation with the instructor could bias your approach. It may even mislead the team to think that the discussion is about “the solution” and therefore negate the second purpose of this assignment. Students should study the sample solutions carefully and use them as guidance in the pursuit of “the solution” to their own case. Guide: Recommend two possible solutions which should be definitive and succinct – be firm with your proposal(s). Like the samples, you should list the relevant pronouncements that you will be using to argue for or against your proposed solutions. Conclude with what you think would be the most logical solution....

English for Written Communication

...Topic 1 Introduction to Communication 1.1 WHAT IS COMMUNICATION? Communication is a learned skill. Communication is defined as the giving, receiving or exchanging of information, opinions or ideas so that the message is completely understood by everybody involved. The sender sends a message out with a certain intention in mind. The receiver of the message tries to understand and interpret the message sent. He then gives feedback to the original sender who, in turn, interprets the feedback. This process, repeated continuously, constitutes communication. ➢ Elements in Communication There are several major elements in the communication process - a sender, message, channel, receiver, feedback, context. There is both a speaker’s intention to convey a message and a listener’s reception of what has been said. If you want to get your message across accurately, you need to consider three things: - The message; - The audience or receiver; and - How the message is likely to be received. ➢ Factors Affecting Communication Barriers to effective communication:- (a) Status/Role (b) Cultural Differences (c) Choice of Communication Channels (d) Length of Communication (e) Use of Language (f) Disabilities (g) Known or Unknown Receiver (h) Individual Perceptions/Attitudes/Personalities (i) Atmosphere/Noise/Distraction (j) Clarity of Message (k) Lack of Feedback 1.2 DEFINING WRITTEN COMMUNICATION - Oral communication involves conveying ideas, thoughts or information...

Michael Kirby AC CMG THE MAIN TASK OF MODERN LAWYERS Although we still describe ours as a common law system (to distinguish it from the countries of the civil law tradition), the label is now looking somewhat dubious. The distinctive feature of contemporary Australian law derives from the overwhelming importance of the laws made by or under parliament. I refer to statutes, regulations, by-laws, executive instruments, rules of court and all the other ways in which the written law now manifests itself. In my youth, the statutory law of the State of New South Wales was collected in twelve manageable volumes, supplemented by a threevolume index1. These books included many important statutes commencing in the colonial period, some of which, like the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW), still apply today.  Past Justice of the High Court of Australia (1996-2009). ...MARKETING PLAN ASSIGNMENT MM522Marketing Management This marketing plan assignment gives you the opportunity to practice developing an integrated business and marketing strategy for a product or service of your choice. It also helps you to develop a strong business-oriented written proposal and communications expertise. As the course progresses, you will be developing each of the elements of this marketing plan. Good marketing plans come in many different formats. We have chosen this format to follow our course of study. An important element of this plan is practicing the use of applied business research tools to gather information about your proposed product or service, its industry, competitors and possible markets. At least part of your research should be conducted on-line for this project (e.g. Keller’s “Virtual Library”, the Internet at large, other proprietary on-line databases). You also have many other sources of potential information: • Internal, non-proprietary company information • Consider calling competitors for product and company information • Conduct telephone interviews of potential customers • Use empirical observation of prospective customers • Conduct customer surveys • Conduct a literature search at the library • Review periodicals for articles and advertisements The development of this Plan is an on-going and integral part of this course. Be sure to address all the questions for your chosen case and demonstrate five or more theories or principles learned in this course as a part of your case analysis. Please do not simply record answers to the questions, rather synthesize your responses into a cohesive case study analysis. Please upload your final project paper to Blackboard through the Assignment Manager tool. The 2,000-word count does not include charts, graphs, title page or supporting appendices. I will be using the Final Project Rubric (see end of this assignment) to grade your case analysis. Please Note: There are few right or wrong answers in the business world. There are really only efficient and inefficient, and effective and ineffective business decisions. If there were always right answers businesses would never fail.
