Peru Boom Spurs Growth of Middle Class
Peru is a middle country in Latin America; it was not one of the superrich or really poor countries. Now Peru is one the fastest growing Latin countries; in the city of El Salvador which uses to be known for indigenous Peruvians is now a mega city. This city has all the bells and whistle, the main attraction is the Mega Plaza Express shopping center. The Mega Plaza Express shopping center has movies, dinner, lights, electronic stores and much more; the local’s lover the current scene and life the city has now.
Over the last couple of years the price of gold and copper has raise and the demand has become very popular with Asian countries. “The Andean country’s gross domestic product rose 6.7 percent year on year in October 2012, marking 38 consecutive months of growth” (Schipani, 2013). Peru growth has notice a letdown in 2010 to 8.8 but that has not stop Peru from becoming one of the top growing Latin American countries. “Sales in 2012 topped $5.3 billion, an increase of 20 percent over the previous year. The increase was due not only to the existence of centers such as Mega Plaza Express” (Schipani, 2013). The Peruvians average $2 dollars a person in his or her pocket has reduced to 28 percent over the last ten years. One of the goals of the Peru President is to reduce/cut poverty to least then 15 percent before 2015. The president also has set other goals such as increasing minimum wages and retirement pension. “Overall, wages have grown at an annual rate of between six and seven percent in the past decade” (Schipani, 2013).
Just a short 20 years age this same area was a lonely hilly deserted area made up of blue collared jobs like factory and non-commodity exporters. Under the current president the city has seen great growth with sales, cheaper auto loans and mortgages. The largest bank in the city has seen great increase also; now they average one new customer daily and more cash in there pockets.
The reality to this story is a couple of things; yes it is great to see Peru growing but a t what cost and are they really monitoring the state of the growth. Some economists are still wary about the Peru financial growth; saying the growth is too fast. The economists are looking at the internal mechanism and see that much of the economy is still untaxed and remains informal. The hand writing is on the wall for a strong collapse because the currency has risen too fast too quickly. The sudden but strong growth in 16 years can really be the downfall by hurting the blue collar labor force in the factories and non-commodity exporters. When you see the banks borrowing large amounts of money (13 billion dollars), just to try to keep up with the currency growth; that is the recipe for a depression.
Will is depression happen maybe not but the risk is there and the signs are there. Recent history in the United States; the homes boom is a good example of the economy growing too fast. The United States has drawn the blueprint for the rest of the world on what not to do when your economy looks too good to be true. Every country wants there economy to prosper and the poverty rate to be at low percentage; but at what cost. With fast financial growth you have to monitor the growth to ensure the system becomes unbalance. When your dollar has no value but everything else around the dollar continue to grow; that is your first red flag.
Financial growth, every country wants the money but can your country handle the growth. Do you have the right leaders in your government; do you have the right internal mechanism to make the right choices? Last but not least; will your country embrace the financial growth and be able to handle the growth or will they be out of control?

...intolerable pain which tears you apart, like a stone heavy on the heart, but I know now that I really wasn’t. Every morning, every meal times, every evening it hurt so badly I wanted to hurt her too. I so badly need her here, to feel her love, to touch out to her. I remember bedtimes which were for stories and adventures, the touch of her gentle hugs, the smell of her softly shampooed hair, and the sparkle of her soul. She’s now my ghost, an unfelt, unspoken memory of the past. Dad was still shouting to me from the bottom of the stairs as I drifted away from my childhood memories. He was holding a letter and had a face like thunder as he crossly waved the envelope towards my outstretched hand. ‘I think it’s your Mothers writing’. Boom Boom Boom!! Sounded the fastness of my heavy heart as I gingerly took the letter from my dad and uttered not a word as I backtracked without a backwards glance to my haven. A mixture of apprehension, fear and anger crashed over me like a tidal wave crashing against my skull, how dare she contact me yet again and put me through all this pain. Slowly, Slowly I open the letter and gingerly remove it from its personal surroundings. This wasn’t the first letter and certainly wasn’t to be the last letter from my mum who was once more asking for reconciliation, forgiveness on my part and offering explanations on hers. A feeling of emptiness laid heavy as I knew that however many letters, texts I received from my mum there was absolutely nothing I could...

Camu Camu

...Henry Collins MKTG 445 2/6/14 Super Foods: Camu Camu in Peru 1) “A food or ingredient that has not been used for consumption by humans in the European union before 1997” is how a Novel Food is defined. Camu Camu falls into this category. To me this seems slightly silly. Regardless, there are options available for the Camu Camu fruit to be used alternatively. As stated in the case, in addition to some research I have done online, Camu Camu can be used as a Superfood Powder. This is considered Category B – “a special benefit able to be obtained through the controlled consumption of certain substances in foodstuffs (Council Directive 2009). An example of this is Swisse Beauty Superfood Powder. That being said, one option for an alternative use of Camu Camu is classifying as a Nutritional Supplement. Additionally, Camu Camu could be used as a cosmetic product. (Safety assessments and composition reports need to be presented in order to gain approval). For example, there are many cosmetic lines based around vitamin C. Camu Camu contains up to 30 times more vitamin C than an orange does. I understand that these regulations are in order to insure the safety of the consumer and also the regions where the fruit is from (i.e. deforestation). We should be taking advantage of these super foods, and if we approach the situation with concern then I can’t see anything bad happening. To put things into perspective, it cannot really get much worse than what we are doing...

Cynthia is one of those people who always smiles no matter what is going on. Even when she’s mad or upset about something, she doesn’t reminisce on the past. I strive to be like her in many ways. She is like a role-model to me and a lot of other students. That is why Cynthia is one of the coolest seniors I know. Tyleesha has been like a big sister to me. How to Sing a Song

...Use rhythm, music and singing to tune IN your students to working WITH you and tune OUT the worries and distractions of other thoughts. 30 seconds of a good backing track can engage a class far more quickly than 30 minutes of our voice and instructions. They tend over time to ‘tune out’ our voices. Music instantly engages. Rhythm, music and singing help build a collaborative ‘group’ identity – the ‘singing tribe’. Call – Response patterns that emphasise rhythm and sound. eg: 1) Warm ups – French Boom Chicka Boom – (see pdf) • Using praise praises for the whole class to chant ‘well done’ to good contributors • Get the children to take over the ‘Call’ function as soon as possible from you. You are modelling skills and empowering them to model to each other as well. Children leading others is a very powerful re-inforcer and motivator. 2) Injecting backing tracks into lessons at key points • allows you ‘pick up’ or ‘calm down’ a lesson depending upon the mood. • allows you to overlay any lyrical content that you want to highlight from your lesson. • You can use songs from Sing Up website but you can also simply use the backing tracks of some key songs Example Let’s Dance backing track from Sing Up website Suggest some lyrics to practise to this track from any work you have done today. Can you see a way in which children could be asked to suggest some simple lyrics that summarise key points of a lesson...

...Psych 18 The origin of the well-known fried rice is from China going back since 4000 B.C. After some time nomads spread it to Southeast Asia such as Indonesia and Malaysia creating variant types of fried rice. Typically Chinese people do not eat fried rice they prefer white rice, steamed and no salt. They actually love that instead. They will have different dishes with well-seasoned meat, chicken, seafood and will always have white rice on the side. So where does fried rice come in place? Fried rice is not a main meal in China it is hardly eaten in restaurants like it is here. There are also variations of fried rice and other countries have learned to create their own fried rice. Usually countries with immigrating Chinese people have adapted to their style of cooking therefore have learned to make the infamous fried rice. China is a country which back in the day had different rankings in social class. This is where Fried rice was born. There were the peasants who would work in the fields for long hours a day, would be exhausted, and not make much money to feed their families. But there were a few things they always had such as leftover rice, soy and a few leftover vegetables. The mothers would cook these all together so there family would have something to eat and it also created bigger portions so there would be enough for everyone. Fried rice was peasant food and it was not common for higher class Chinese people to eat it because they could afford to...
