Rubens was a Flemish Baroque painter and was admirably recognized for his Counter-Reformation altarpieces, portraits, landscapes and historical paintings of mythological characters. Rembrandt was a Dutch painter and printmaker, who was also known for his etching. His greatest successes are told through his portraits of the people who surrounded his life, his self-portraits and paintings of scenes in the Bible. Both artists received a traditional education and then continued their education with several apprenticeships to learn the basics of art and painting. These artists were treated with immense success in the 17th century, especially considering the amount of turmoil that was happening with the ‘Eighty Year War’ happening all around them. The journey to success contained personal triumphs and setbacks for both artists, albeit each journey was draped with divergence. According to the institute the database can be used for assistance in finding information for Projects, and for the Study of Collecting. According to the Database, “The J. Paul Getty Museum acquired The Entombment (ca. 1612) by Peter Paul Rubens in a Christie's sale in 1992. At that time, the provenance of the painting could only be traced as far back as the mid-19th century. The number 146, located on the face of the painting, appeared to be an inventory number (the Getty Research Institute, 2012). A search in the Provenance Index's Archival Inventories database retrieved a single record in which the artist name (Rubens) and item number (146) matched. The search lead to a 1651 inventory preserved in the Archivo de la Casa de Alba, Palacio de Liria in Madrid, which lists this Rubens painting. How could I have lived here in Tampa for seventeen years and never visit this place? I walked in and saw the grounds; this place was huge, well kept and full of history. My first stop was a stroll through Marble rose garden, it was beautiful , over one thousand-two hundred roses are planted in the garden the beautiful marble sculptures was placed in the right order, not overpowering the garden but just enough to accent the landscape. The stroll quiet relaxing, the cool air flowing through the trees, the sweet smell of morning dew on rose petal was the perfect way to begin the day. As my stroll ended I was told that the large tree surrounding the ground was much smaller, giving Mable a clear view of her garden from every room in her mansion. My next stop was the Museum of Art, what a beautiful exhibit. This was actually my favorite place in the entire museum. The first thing that captured my eye, was the twenty feet DAVID towing over the garden. Even though it was not the original, it was radiant. His poise and grace just over took the outdoor quarter.
