After a neck surgery in 2011, Manning started to lose motion in his neck and started to lose strength in his shoulder. Some view the NFL as greedy and the playing of the sport as dangerous. The recent link of CTE to receiving concussions from football has put the league in a bad light. CTE causes depression, impaired judgement, memory loss, and aggression. With 96% of deceased NFL players being diagnosed with CTE, many believe the sport of football is too dangerous to play (Schumaker 1-3). What many do not know is that the NFL has donated sixty-million dollars to technology development in helmets, forty-million to medical research, and one-billion for a settlement with former players (Maske 1-2). Football is the legacy sport. Names like Joe Montana and Peyton Manning are some of the best known stars to those even outside of the sport. However, with ratings at an alltime low for NFL games and a skewed image of an impactful league, the time has come for other countries to have their own legacies through the sharing of American football. It is just the right thing to do. The imperfect state of the current NFL will only be fixed by more football fans and more money for rebranding.
