...Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING Introduction: With the development and transformation of Central Luzon College of Science and Technology (CELTECH COLLEGE) simultaneously the increasing number of students enrolling from different courses specially to Maritime Education that make the school became popular at the same time the expectations of students its radical changes in terms of facilities .At the end of the life cycle of an item of technology, the issue arises as to whether it is more economical to use or dispose of obsolete equipment. As improvement on CELTECH COLLEGE accelerates, this issue can arise within a year or two of purchase. In some cases, particularly where the technology will continue to perform satisfactorily to their students notwithstanding that it is obsolete, it may be worth retaining. In other cases, it may be desirable to upgrade technology quickly in order to gain some benefit from reselling the old equipment while it retains some value. The issue of when to upgrade obsolete equipment must be taking action, as it will impact on the likely cost of the school and increasing number of students will going to enroll. On the other hand, if the life of a piece of transformation can be extended so that it can be used over several times, the cost of those changes can be amortized over that time. This will serve to reduce the longer-term cost of implementing Navigational Equipments. This approach necessitates a deliberate decision to reuse equipments...

...Peace Reigns USM Nesting on the Mindanao archipelago are prestigious and soaring state universities, academic institutions, and learning centers all with the same aim, all vying for academic excellence and nobility. But one stands higher, with its goals surpassing those of the labeled ones with aspirations that go beyond educational standards, but surges out for peace and progress within the entirety of its denomination; The University of Southern Mindanao. Firmly rooted on the green plains of North Cotabato, USM is the melting pot of the region. USM is a thousand-acre campus of academic excellence judging from the intellectually constructed curriculum it has that serves as a well-equipped foundation of learning acquisition of every student enrolled in the academe. Not only the curriculum is there to back up the pulsating idea that USM is a center of academic excellence, for it is indeed an arena of educational programs which bring it to greater heights and levels of learning. USM is a home to brilliant minds and ideas, with its accomplishments and agenda even extending on neighboring communities, towns and municipalities. Because of that the campus has been a place where the merging and solidarity of thoughts of many ethnic denominations happen. A blend of different cultures mix at USM, all co-exist with each other smoothly because the university promotes and values respect above all virtues. But this truthful thought begun to vanished when some of the Faculty and Staff...

...CASE STUDY I. THE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF SAN FERNANDO PAMPANGA TO THE PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENT. February 10, 2014, I and my partner, went to the Municipality of City of San Fernando, Pampanga. We visited the City Environment and Natural Resources Office to conduct a short interview regarding the community involvement of their organization/department to the poor and environment. As a short discussion with Engr. Anele C. David (the Senior Environmental Management Specialist I), she explained to us the different programs they are conducting to help the less fortunate people and in the environment. First in the environment, they always have a Tree Planting Program. The recent that they had was held in Baguio (December 11, 2013), the City Legal Office headed by Atty. Atlee Viray planted 142 seedlings in Brgy. Irigan, Baguio City as part of their team building activity. Then they also had “Towards a Green City III”, City Mayor Edwin Santiago led the tree planting activity in Barangay Lara on November 16, 2013 with CENRO-officer In- Charge Engr. Anele David and Brgy. Captain Alejo Singian. Not just tree planting but also the City Government of San Fernando (P) led by Mayor Edwin Santiago held the “City wide Waterways Cleanup Drive and San Fernando River Mudball Toss” on October 4, 2013 in observance of the International Coastal Cleanup Month. It aimed to raise awareness on the waterways debris problem and promote volunteerism for a clean and healthy environment...

...Zambales being only 3 hours away from Manila, Pundaquit however, is another 30 to 60 minutes away from the first city which is Olongapo. Traveling to Pundaquit is not as hard as it looks, compared to traveling towards the beaches South of Manila. The North has all the scenic roads and interesting people you’ll see along the way. That’s enough reason to make daytrippers and backpackers feel more relaxed, laid back and away from the rat race and hustle and bustle of Metro Manila. TRAVELING VIA PRIVATE VEHICLE: Coming from Manila, take the North Luzon Expressway or NLEX and take the San Fernando Exit then head southwest the road to Olongapo. Before you reach Olongapo town proper, there is a shortcut route that will take you inside Subic Base Metropolitan Authority or SBMA which you may want to take to bypass the traffic and a few winding roads pass Olongapo’s busy street. As soon as you exit SBMA, head northwest and you will pass by the towns of Castillejos, San Marcelino and then the Town of San Antonio. Once you are in San Antonio, it’s advised to ask the locals for the way to Pundaquit as it’s a bit complicated having no street signs in the area. Locals will be glad to answer you for directions. A fool proof way to ensure you won’t get lost, hire one of the many tricycle drivers to take you there on a convoy. If you made your reservations, mention the name of the resort beforehand so they know exactly where you are going. TRAVELING VIA PUBLIC TRANSPORT: The best and most...

...insist on having things go their way. Hence, the murders, thefts, homicides, kidnappings and many other man-caused tragedies are prevalent. Officials and the people of the city make no big effort or bring out strong will to change these ways and transform them into loving acts for the good of all people. There are numerous threatening events that happened here in Zamboanga where society was gravely put in danger. Since the city is near ARMM, it’s in Mindanao, rebel and free groups against the government such as the MILF, MNLF, and Abu Sayaff get plenty of chances to harm people and demand overwhelming things for themselves. All people have seen how brutal they carry out their means for their selfish ends. These groups are against the Philippine government and demand through militaristic means for a separate entity/government. There have been bombings, hostages, kidnappings, murders just for this demand of theirs. These people do not make moral decisions and do not contribute to social justice. Simply to put it, Zamboanga city has got a shaky peace and order. It’s not guaranteed to keep its citizens safe in whatsoever way. One of the struggles in Ateneo de Zamboanga University...

...History (from Greek ἱστορία - historia, meaning "inquiry, knowledge acquired by investigation") is the study of the past, specifically how it relates to humans. It is an umbrella term that relates to past events as well as the discovery, collection, organization, and presentation of information about these events. The term includes cosmic, geologic, and organic history, but is often generically implied to mean human history. Scholars who write about history are called historians. ...In this essay I will discuss how the development of travel has impacted Singapore as a tourist destination. I will identify the factors that have assisted in the development of tourism within Singapore and the elements of Leiper’s (1990) Basic Whole Tourist System. I will also discuss the roles the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) undertake to develop Singapore as a destination. Singapore is a unique city that attracts various tourists from young to old, appealing to all generations and interests. The city is dynamic with various cultures, cuisine, art and architecture. “A Single day’s trails will take you from the past to the future, from a colourful ethnic enclave to an efficient business centre, from serene gardens to sleek skyscrapers.” (http://www.stb.com.sg). Singapore is truly a city like no other, a world of possibilities. Its warm and friendly people make tourists feel welcome along with its state of the art infrastructure. With Singapore being a stop over point on long haul flights to Asia or Australia from Europe or the Americas, the tourism within Singapore has been increasing as the flights have been increasing. Many airlines now offer special package deals on stop over holidays in Singapore. In 1964 Singapore’s Tourist Promotion Board was established with the mandate to promote Singapore as a tourist destination. That year they began working with a small staff strength of twenty five workers, that year they welcomed 91...

...EXPANSION A PAPER ON DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS Submitted to; Dean Agnes Rola In fulfillment of the requirements for PAF 203 2nd sem 2011-2012 University of the Philippines College of Public Affairs CLARISSA M. DIMACULANGAN March, 2012 I. Introduction In the Philippines, until today, some remote parts of the country do not have access to electricity. According to DOE, twenty two percent (22%) in the Philippines as of the moment is still unelectrified (Table 1). This can be attributed to scattered areas in the Philippines, thereby leaving the remote areas with no plan for electrification. CARD BDSFI is currently distributing renewable energy products, specifically solar lighting, to far flung communities, those areas which are not covered by electrical installations or in regions with electricity shortage. With the distribution of solar lighting products, it is important to note the socio economic characteristics of those who have availed the products so as to identify or determine the market segment for solar products as a basis for expansion. ...INTRODUCTION According to Opena (1985), Manobo is a generic term which refers to people who are still in the subsistence level economy and are generally in the mountains and who practice the slash and burn agriculture. Further she qualified that the term Manobo is very derogatory for it connotes to be backward, uncivilized, ignorant, boisterous, unwashed, unkept, rough and lawless. Hence, she opined that the use of the term must be used with discreetness, tact and prudence. The term can also mean a slave (magdul) or a person destined to do all the menial jobs in the house and farm. According to Elkins (1977) the Manobo belongs to the original stock of proto-Philippines or proto-Austronesian people who came from South China thousands of years ago. He later coined the term Manobo to designate the stock of aboriginal non-negeritoid people of Mindanao. They mostly inhabit the hinterlands of Bukidnon specifically on the boundaries of Agusan, Bukidnon, Cotabato, Davao and Misamis Oriental (NCIP,2003). The Western Manobos are in the Southwestern part of Bukidnon in Mulita, Kalilangan and Pangantucan. These people speak a quaint language with Marawi influence which cannot be understood by other ethnic groups in Bukidnon. Marriage is traditionally by parental arrangement, which begins when each of the two families chooses a spokesperson, preferably a datu or bai, who is known for eloquence and knowledge of custom law. Marriage is an alliance system in which reciprocity and mutual...

...CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION A. Background of the study In the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, the Zamboanga City was an armed conflict between the forces of the Republic of the Philippines and a faction of the Moro National Liberation Front, generally known by other factions as the Rogue MNLF Elements, under the Sulu State Revolutionary Command led by Ustadz Habier Malik and Khaid Ajibon, whose group continues to recognize Nur Misuari as MNLF Chairman. The war erupted on September 9, 2013 when this MNLF faction attempted to raise the flag of the self-proclaimed Bangsamoro Republic at Zamboanga City Hall which caused the displacement of more than 100,000 people, the occupation of several barangays (villages) by the MNLF, the deaths of several civilians, the closure of the Zamboanga International Airport and the it also paralyzed the economic activity of Zamboanga City The current conflict in Zamboanga may lead to a deterioration in confidence in the Philippines, with investors likely taking a second look at the country due to renewed peace-and-order issues, despite Mindanao’s riches, owing to the resources it has to offer that could benefit the agriculture and mining sectors, the area’s potential has never been maximized due to its troubled history. The immediate economic losses are estimated at 1.1 billion Philippine pesos per day. Meanwhile, several remittance centers are overflowing with customers after being closed for days, but they can only remit a limited...
