I didn't always think I was going to be this crazy, funny comedian, though. I was born on July 17, 1917 in Lima, Ohio. ("Phyllis Diller." IMDb. IMDb.com) I was practically a surprise to my parents. In November of 1916, my mother was having problems and pains and decided to go to the doctor. ( "Like a Lampshade in a Whorehouse": My Life in Comedy.) They told her it was a tumor. A few days later she went to the Lima Hospital to get it removed. But when they cut her open they didn't find a tumor, they found me. Then eight months later I came to this world. As I grew up in Lima I went to Lima Central High School. After high school I went to study for three years at Sherwood Music Conservatory in Chicago, Illinois.
