Summary: The year was 1866 and different ships of other nations were reporting a mysterious sea creature. People started getting speculations, so the US government created an expedition/hunt. Pierre Aronnax, a professor of natural history and a marine biologist, is invited and accepts. With his assistant, Consiel, they boarded the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln. They depart from Brooklyn and after a long search, the find the monster off the Sea of Japan. When master harpooner Ned Land tries to kill the creature, it rams the ships and Land, Professor Aronnax and Conseil is thrown overboard. After floating in the ocean for hours, they wash up onto the “hide” of the monster, which actually is a large submarine. Men capture them and the captain of the ship, Captain Nemo introduces himself, telling them about the Nautilus and his terms. Since the crew of the ship are isolated from the world, they are invited to stay with them, but they don’t have a choice.
