The centers provide low-income services that improves the health and well-being of Americans. Over 85% of people treated by Planned Parenthood are young people ages 15-25, which is also the age group for the most STDs. While most young adults can not afford the treatment in other clinics or hospitals, funding for Planned Parenthood helps to provide the testing and treatment for these diseases and infections. “This legislation threatens millions of people's access to preventive health care,” Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards says about the legislation that would end funding for Planned Parenthood. There would be hundred of thousands of more unintended pregnancies and unwanted babies each year. “Back alley butchers”, which are individuals who are medically untrained and only performing illegal abortions for the financial benefit, would become a big epidemic again says an article on plannedparenthood.org. Pros And Cons Of Planned Parenthood

...Has anyone noticed the hoopla about Trump wanting to defund Planned Parenthood? Whether he does or doesn't is of little consequense to them...financially that is. Saddly, Planned Parenthood gets more than enough financial support from corporations, organizations and private citizens to do what they do. That being said, a few of the many noted personalities that could have been aborted by their mothers but were not are pretty vocal about about when asked. Justin Beeber told Rolling Stone "I really don't believe in abortion. I think [an embryo] is a human. It's like killing a baby". Nick Cannon, who is a rapper, TV personality and actor (Drumline and America's Got Talent) went so far as to write a song and perform in a music video of...

Term Paper

...Federal Supreme Court ruling of Rowe versus Wade, abortions have become established as legal in the United States. (Glendon, 2003) Legalized abortion in the United States, has received strong support from Pro-Choice proponents such as Planned Parenthood. (Planned Parenthood, 2014) Pro-Choice advocates for abortion, believe that pregnancies can be allowed to be ended prematurely. (MNT, 2009) Pro-Life advocates, on the other hand, view abortion as murder to human life. Opponents to legalizing abortions performed in the United States, often include Pro-Life supporters and certain religious groups. The issue of abortion in American society often involves individual belief and personal choice. The five members of the University of Phoenix’s BCOM/275, Learning Team C, have separated into two groups to debate the pros and cons relating to the legalization of abortions in the United States. Three team members debated the abortion topic from a Pro-Life perspective, and two team members sought to represent the Pro-Choice position. A team debate was held on June 13, 2014. The purpose of the debate, was to gather information from team members and meet three main objectives. The first objective was to gather information by listening to arguments from both: Pro-Life and Pro-Choice perspectives. The second debate objective was to identify persuasive arguments. Each chosen persuasive argument would become researched and become eligible for opposition rebuttal and input. The third...

...topic because a portion of individuals believe that it should be a woman’s choice whether she has an abortion while others consider it to be murder. Abortion is a necessary medical procedure during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, however, this procedure is sometimes abused and although it is needed, it is not always justified and therefore deserves to have stricter guidelines placed upon it. Many of us can safely say that the media shapes our approach on a daily basis. Since abortion is such a touchy subject and it is based on moral issues, our feelings are changing constantly. With the help of the media anti-abortion group is one step ahead by putting graphic displays on the television to help get their point across. For the pro-choice side the position morally is hard to display. The most important point that needs to be heard is that early abortion is a legal procedure. Abortion cannot be debated upon whether it is legal or not. There should be more scientific research done before people can make a decision on...

(Pregnant Teen Help, Teen Pregnancy Statistics) Some would argue that teen pregnancy is all glorified. Other individuals would protest that it is too influential. Planned Parenthood Research Paper

...Visiting Planned Parenthood, I realized they offer many choices of contraceptives. From one time use condoms, to permanent sterilization. Depending on a person’s sex life and personal preference there are contraceptive options for everyone. The IUD, Intrauterine Device, is inserted into the uterus of a female by her clinician. The IUD contains copper that keep sperm from joining the egg. However, not affective against sexually transmitted infection, it is considered 99.2-99.8% effective against pregnancy. There are currently two different IUD’s available at Planned Parenthood, one is ParaGard (copper IUD) that can be left in place for up to 12 years, the other is Mirena (hormone based IUD) which can be left in place for five years. Progestin-only methods use a hormone similar to the progesterone made by a woman’s ovaries to prevent ovulation, thicken the cervical mucus to prevent sperm from joining an egg, and may also prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to...

The Role Of Abortion In The United States

...to this problem. Abortion is when someone decides to terminate their pregnancy by removing the baby before it is born. Depending on where you live the abortion law may be different. In some countries abortion is not legal at all and in the United States abortion is legal but each state has different laws. Many people think abortion is unethical because you are killing a baby, while others think that it is the mothers choice on whether or not they want to give birth to the baby. Many abortion laws state that you can only get an abortion during a certain time period and after you are passed that time period, then it is illegal to get an abortion unless, the mother’s health is in danger. At this moment I believe that the United States is more pro-abortion than anti abortion because abortion is legal right now. Consequently, all of the states have different types of restrictions, but there is nowhere in the United States where abortion is completely illegal. There is a history of abortion and whether or not it should be legal. Since the late nineteenth century anti abortion laws were passed all throughout the United States, and then in the 1960s a women's right movement had begun. These women worked together to end the anti abortion laws. Around that time, many women were choosing to get abortions done illegally because there was no place that allowed them to be done legally. The way these women were performing their illegal abortions was very dangerous, and that is when the public...

55 Hallford's Argument Against Abortion

...While the presented facts make it impossible to deny the black genocide movement and its committed following existed, the secrecy associated with Planned Parenthood (such as code words) and the government’s involvement in furthering eugenic action in America does not provide sufficient evidence pointing to black genocide being the reason for abortion’s legalization. The case of Norma McCorvey, the dangers of illegal abortion, and the Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade show no signs of influence from The Negro Project or its affiliates. There is no compelling evidence that “Jane Doe” had any connection to black genocide efforts. Concern for her children’s wellbeing and determination to maintain it, prompted Norma McCorvey’s case. White women tirelessly protested for female minorities who died during abortions because of infection and poorly executed procedures. Black genocide as the goal for...

Should Abortion Be Legal?

...and Accessible? Abortion is viewed as being both right and wrong in many ways and by a diverse selection of people in our society. As some people view abortion as safe and acceptable and a right that women are entitled to, others view the subject as a complete destruction of a helpless life and an unfortunate way to decrease the mental health of a woman who chooses to have an abortion. To begin with, I will address why abortion should be legal. My points for PRO are #1, abortions are safe and #2, women have the right to do want they want with their body. Regarding point #1, abortions are safe, it is easy to agree with that statement due to the fact that abortion is legal to this day and data shows that abortion has a safety record of more than 99%. Since 1973, abortion has been protected under the law and is something that women have a legal right to in all 50 states in the United States of America. According to Jamila Perritt- a board-certified obstetrician, gynecologist, and medical director of Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan- major complications occur less than 1% of the time in abortion procedures. Furthermore, in the cases where a complication does occur, the result is similar to the ones that may occur from a miscarriage in which health providers treat every day. Because abortion has become a more common practice in today’s society, it is a matter in which continuous research is put into and is a constant part of regular medical practice for many health care providers...

Pros and Cons of Abortion

...Keywords: This paper explores the pros and cons of abortion. Many people believe differently on whether it is right or wrong. [ Abortion ]: Right or Wrong? Abortion has been a huge topic in the United States for years now, and whether it is the right thing to do or not has caused many debates. It was declared a fundamental right by the U.S. Supreme Court during Roe vs. Wade, yet many people beg to differ. The ones who believe it is right identify themselves as pro-choice, believing that abortion is a woman’s right and that it should not be limited by governmental or religious authority. Identifying as pro-life, the opponents believe that it is immoral killing and that personhood begins at conception. No matter what each side thinks, there will always be arguments about it. The choice to abort a fetus is central to a woman’s independence and ability to determine her own future. "A woman's autonomy to determine her life's course, and thus to enjoy equal citizenship stature,” stated by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg during Gonzales vs. Carhart (2007). A woman’s decision can affect her life for the good or the bad, but if abortion was illegal, then a woman cannot make the best decision for herself. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor wrote, "The ability of women to participate equally in the economic and social life of the Nation has been facilitated by their ability to control their reproductive lives," in Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992). Women were given...

However, if restrictions were to loosen, women wouldn’t have to put their life at risk, instead they could undergo a successful and safer abortion. Another advantage abortion contains is that it has a lower risk of death, giving birth has a higher chance of dying than aborting. In addition, women will highly benefit by gaining their personal freedom, they will have their own power to decide whether or not they wish to terminate without judgement. Women have little access to abortion clinic due to the restrictions and even if they have access to one, they have to endure harassment by protestors such as pro-life supports. Even though abortions can be pricey, sometimes it is the best choice for someone to go through if they do...
