Philosophy is an expansive subject matter that has no final conclusion. Every question can be followed up with another question and so on. By doing so, we can find truth in each situation and decide on the right way to act. For example, if my friend steals my favorite sweatshirt, it does not mean I should commit harm to him. After evaluating the situation and the circumstances, it is obvious that it is not the right thing to do. In the text it says, “the ethical thing to do in any situation is dependent on the peculiar mix of factors in that situation”(93). In this particular situation there are many civil solutions that would be morally acceptable and make more sense. Each situation has to be taken into account in order to make good moral choices. This can be related to the truth in our lives and the meaning of life it unveils. Each person on this earth has a different life, therefore, we are put in unique situations. The meaning of life is not going to mean the same thing for any two people. If I were a surfer and spent most of my life on the water, I would not say the meaning of my life is to bowl a perfect game. Instead in my current situation, I would say the goal of my life is something similar to finding the perfect wave. We all decide the meaning for our lives based on the peculiar setting we live in.
