...The record player and record were invented by Thomas Edison in 1877. Its first name was the phonograph. The first words ever recorded were “Mary had a little lamb”. The first record was made of paraffin paper and a embossing point to record sound. Using a metal cylinder with tin foil wrapped around it to produce sound. Later vinyl replaced the paper and a needle or stylus was also adapted to fit into the groove of the record. In 1963 William Powell Lear invented and patented the 8-track tape and its corresponding player. Then it was introduced to the public in 1966 when the Ford Motor Company introduced as the cutting-edge automotive accessory for the Ford Mustang (Techtarget.com). 8-tracks began to quickly replace the LP’s due to their portability and they would not warp or skip. During the 60’s the compact cassette was introduced to the public, it was not so much of a music playback system instead; it was used for personal recording and as dictation machine. Then during the 70’s cassettes became very popular when record industries such as Mercury saw the growing potential for their businesses. Later in the 80’s with the invention of the Sony Walkman portable player, and boom boxes; cassettes were the most popular formats to playback music. In the 70’s a music lover frustrated that vinyl records were easily damaged James T. ...Team B’s Competitor Research Paper for the Mobile Food Truck University of Phoenix MKT/431 March 4, 2013 Gail Lorber Introduction B's Mobile Food Truck is a business that will offer the convenience of serving foods to their customers from a traveling truck. The food truck will be located near businesses, which will allow the customers quick access to the service. Customers will have different food choices to choose. However, quick access to the food service cause the company to compete against such companies as gas station, restaurants, grocery stores, and smoothie juice restaurants. Each of these businesses offers the service of prepared and ready-to-go foods and healthy choices. Each also allows convenience service. B's Mobile Food Truck must realize these businesses will be in constant competition against the mobile food truck. Mobile Food Truck Competitors Gas station food has earned a bad reputation over the last 20 years for various reasons. Usually the only things to be found are old hot dogs, stale donuts, slushes, and tightly wrapped tasteless sandwiches that have some sort of gross cheese that most people could not identify. Several gas stations have gotten into a different range of foods, trying to expand on better choices to boost the income. Many gas stations have either joined up with franchises such as McDonald’s, Subway or a pizza place to diversify their food attractions from the common place soggy sandwiches and sodas...

It should be indented, it should be double-spaced, and it should be in 12 pt Times New Roman font (as should the rest of the body of your term paper). An executive summary should be no longer than two pages (and preferably shorter), and should be written after your paper has been completed. It is a complete summary of your recommendations, and the reader should get a clear picture from this section alone. Assume that the reader reads nothing else. Darden Restaurants, Inc., a multi-billion dollar full-service restaurant company, is facing – and will be facing many difficult challenges. In addition to billions in lost revenue from the economic downturn and a severe shortage in their most served menu item, they have recently been challenged by a new minority shareholder who is pressuring them to reorganize their corporate structure. This activist investor, Barington Capital Group, LP, is known for being particularly aggressive and frequently getting what they want. Darden’s revenues are down significantly over the last couple of years in their two flagship – and typically most profitable restaurants, Red Lobster...

...Panera Bread Company Crafting and Executing Strategy Executive Summary The Panera Bread Company is starting 2007 with unfinished goals and missed targets previously set and a review of their strategy is in order to continue their ongoing success. The company has grown substantially since its inception in the competitive restaurant industry; however, an aggressive target of 2,000 Panera Bread bakery-cafes will require a focused strategic plan. The company has a strong base with loyal customers who appreciate Panera’s unique dining atmosphere with a focus on quality products at a reasonable price. Panera will need to continue its market research and focus on environmental issues, which are an important core value. The opportunity for growth in the competitive market is still available, as noted in the analysis section of the report, but the most risk lies with the competition’s ability to adapt and change along with Panera to gain their own increases in market share. With this in mind, the recommendation is to continue the expansion process through the franchise offerings while maintaining the differentiation qualities Panera already possesses. The strategy must also acknowledge the potential for a market decline due to potential economic downturns and must act accordingly by keeping a close eye on stores which are profitable and stores which may be struggling. It is important to keep the brand image high to ensure a consistent quality and profitability for investor confidence...
