In a short rebuttal to the article I will analyze the reliability, credibility, and validity of the data used by the author as well as identifying any fallacies in the argument. In the article the author takes a position against a playoff system for college football and ends it by stating, “I realize no one else feels this way. I do not care” (Klosterman, 2007). That statement itself is a common fallacy of rationalizing. The author is stating their opinion on the issue at the same time rejecting any other feedback on the topic. So basically saying this is what I think and what you think does not matter. The author’s argument itself is not reliable for he only states his side of the issue; this leaves a lot of controversial issues left untouched. As far as the credibility of this argument the author’s only source used is that of his own opinions. This makes it hard for the audience to take the authors side regarding the argument. Concluding an amazing season, John Glenn’s very own Varsity Lady Eagles had an amazing opportunity to participate in this year’s CIF Playoff Game. Our girls went in as second in league, played an outstanding game against Northview High School in Covina. Glenn’s Playoff game was away but that didn’t stop our student body from supporting our school. Two buses went to the event, one with our Varsity Lady Eagles and also one for people who bought CIF tickets sold during the week prior. The CIF playoff tickets were sold at $5 dollars and an extra $2 dollars to secure their seat on the school bus. Once everyone arrived at Northview High School, our team started warming up, had a Pep-up talk with each other and had their eye on the prize and got focused into their zone of playing their best for their big game. ...Ever since I was three or four years old I have gone to at least one Phillies game every season with my mom, dad, or brother. I would slowly start to understand more and more of what was going on in the sport as I got older. I had thoroughly enjoyed going to these games for the giveaways they often had. My mother and I would go every season to the game on Phillies Phanatic’s birthday and always get the giveaway they had. I guess by continuously going to the games and watching them on TV, I gained a new passion for my home team.
