...AMANPOUR: President Aquino, welcome to the program. And thank you for joining me in the midst of this incredible national disaster. I appreciate your time. BENIGNO SIMEON COJUANGCO AQUINO III, PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT: Yes. Thank you for having us. AMANPOUR: Can I ask you first, you have toured some of the worst hit areas. On a personal note, how has it affected you, what you've seen, and how do you manage to reassure your people who have gone through this supertyphoon after an earthquake, after a typhoon last year? AQUINO: Well, I think, first of all, typhoons are not an unusual occurrence for the Philippines. We get visited by about 20 of them every year. But this year has been an exceptionally bad year, more than 20. We have been able to demonstrate as a government and as a people collectively that we take care of each other. And the government's immediate response, I think, has been reassuring to the vast majority of our people. Our ability to take care of our problems rather quickly, except in this particular case, the foundation of our efforts rely on the local government units. And unfortunately, two or three were simply overwhelmed by the degree of this typhoon that affected us. But other than that, in other areas, there was preemptive evacuations, cooperation from the citizenry, which brought down the casualty figures from the other areas affected, except for this corridor in the Leyte and two Samar provinces. AMANPOUR: It's obviously a huge emergency...

It also highlights some of the changes to hike SSS contributions and train fares. Pnoy said the need to reform pension scheme is necessary to avoid depletion of SSS funds in the next 28 years. He also explains that fare hikes in MRT and LRT will be implemented. The government subsidizes each passenger’s fare by as much as P45 and said to be unfair to residents from Visayas and Mindanao who never set foot on the trains but fund the train operation. But according to critics or analysts, president Aquino did not mention solid agenda on how he will lead us to his ‘Daang Matuwid’ campaign until 2016. Nancy Binay highlights that pnoy didn’t include on his speech ways to improve employment rate in the country. Inspite of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for 2012 and various economic reform programs of Aquino government for this three years in the palace, Philippines is still has the worst unemployment rate in Asia. ...On July 27, 2015, President Benigno “PNoy” Aquino delivered his sixth and final State of the Nation Address, at Batasan Complex, Quezon City, which is considered as his longest SONA. For the past five years, the Philippines made a rapid advancement especially with regards to its economy. It seemed that the Philippine economy reacted positively with PNoy’s “Daang Matuwid”. The Philippines now is slowly climbing the global competitiveness rankings thanks to PNoy’s advocacy to good governance reforms. President Aquino, highlighted his speech with the achievements of his administration including the improved economy and outlook; increased collection of revenues and benefits of his social service programs (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4ps) and PhilHealth), comparing this to the past administration of Macapagal Arroyo including fertilizer fund scam; the NBN-ZTE anomalous deal and "Hello Garci" scandal. In our opinion, President Aquino rightly delivered a summary of what his administration has done to the country. He had to use previous administration's scandals so that the mistakes it incurred will not be repeated. The most unexpected part of his SONA was his indirect speech towards Vice President Jejomar Binay the standard-bearer of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) for next year elections and his presidential endorsement. Our President had dedicated his term on apprehending the corruption in our country. Comparing to the past administration, we can state that the...
