The Stars, is an original poem written by Julie Lehman. She is the special events coordinator of The Harrisburg Historical Society and a local writer.

Julie’s explanation of her poem: “My poem was written in a romantic style. It incorporates nature and its relationship to man. This poem was inspired by Emily Dickinson’s poem, Hope is the Thing with Feathers. It shares the aspect of symbolism for hope. In Dickinson’s poem she compares hope to a bird, and in my poem I am comparing hope to the stars. Specifically, in line 11 and 12 I compared hope to the stars, and called it a guiding light.
