Chapter 9 1. How can teachers effectively use computers and internet in the classroom?

Computers and the Internet are a great resource for classroom teachers! Teachers can find suggestions, lesson plans, practical support, information, and materials through the Internet. In fact, using a computer can make a teacher's life easier and more efficient. Books and materials for teachers and students can also be located and purchased online, saving teachers the time used to send away for catalogs or go to the teacher store.
For instance, perhaps the teacher has a student with a particular special need or wants to know how to use a particular strategy or teach a particular lesson. Maybe a teacher wants to learn more about using technology to meet the needs of learning disabled students. Perhaps a teacher needs resources for working with English Language Learners. The Internet is an easy way of finding information without having to make a trip to the library. For teachers who are not familiar with the instruction and outs of Internet use, online training is available which teaches how to get around on the Internet. 2. How would you prepare the students to handle the unreliable and unscholarly materials found on the internet?

I would give students a guide for discerning what materials are reliable and useful for scholarly purposes. I would expect them to use them to judge for themselves, but I would point out materials that might not be good choices and give the reasons. 3.
