Policeman of the World

The US Military conflict in Iraq started when the United States invaded Iraq. It was followed by long period of fighting to combat the occupying forces and the newly formed Iraqi government. The reason for the invasion on Iraq was, the US believed that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction and presented a threat to US security and after the bombing of the twin towers in New York. Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was also accused of sheltering and aiding al-Qaeda but no evidence was ever found to prove that. Other stated reasons for the invasion of Iraq was Iraq's financial support for the families of Palestinian suicide bombers, Iraqi government human rights abuses and an effort to spread democracy to the country.
Later after investigating it was concluded that Iraq had already ended its nuclear, chemical and biological programs in 1991 and had no active programs at the time of the invasion, but that they envisioned resuming activities if the Iraq sanctions were lifted. However, when public favored increasingly for the withdrawals of the troops from Iraq and as Iraqi forces started to take responsibility for security, member nations of the Coalition withdrew their forces. Later, the U.S. decided to completely withdraw military personnel from Iraq in December 2011.
After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in the US, the US military has been continuously intervening the internal affairs Afghanistan from 2001 until today to disassemble the al-Qaeda terrorist organization and to confiscate the Taliban government from power, which at the time was controlling Afghanistan and accommodated al-Qaeda leadership. Policeman of the World

...Policeman of the World Laura Ortega Strayer University LaRonda Pondexter Contemporary U.S History 12/21/13 Policeman of the World It is common knowledge that by the 20th century, the United States had become the dominant force in international relations. Some have argued that the United States' military functions as the world's police. For centuries United States has been found as the world's policeman regardless if they were asked for the help or not. In this paper I will highlight two instances in which United States intervene in an international matter. Also I will identify what prompted America to become a dominant force after World War II and what were the differences in the foreign policy before and after the war. Throughout the history United States has come across a lot of different situations in which we are either pushed to declare war against another country because we were threatened or we do it because we feel the necessity to save that other country from their enemy. Probably one of the biggest instances was after the September 11 terrorist attack in New York city. After this happened president Bush sent out troops to Afghanistan and declare war against them. In another note a more recent event was the Libyan attack known as: Operation Odyssey Dawn. It's only purpose was to enforce a no-fly zone and to prevent the Libyan's from attacking their own citizens. In 2012 troops were deployed to the border of Jordan and Syria to help contain the...

Policeman of the World

...Policeman of the World Final Paper Tiffany Livingston Professor Laverne Y. Peralta HIS-105 Contemporary U.S. History June 15, 2015 The United States has been serving as a police role for the entire world for many years now. This has been especially beneficial to the U.S. in terms of making allies and also aiding those countries in need. U.S. has been a backup country for many third world countries that look forward to receiving assistance from the United States in emergency situations. Military incidents involving the United States military internationally, over the past five years, has had some impact on the American public and how it affects the United States.   The wars in Japan and Syria have brought about some controversy in foreign policy with the military acting as the world’s police. As China’s economic power has grown, its foreign policy has evolved. It now has greater political influence in regional and global affairs, and is increasingly seeking the exercise that influence. This evolution in China’s role in the world will impact the United States and Japan, two close allies. Understanding the character and trajectory of a reviving China is a crucial task for Washington and Tokyo, which is made more complicated by a plurality of views on China in and between the two allies. They came up with a strategic plan, and they launched it in late 2009. The plan is a blueprint to their long-term success for American Airlines that are based on five tenets. The...

The Policeman of the World

...Political Competency Name Institution Lessons learned about Political Competency from the Documentary, Shameless Propaganda (2013) Political competency is viewed as the capacity to understand what an individual can or cannot control when to take action, which is going against your motive and who you require on your side to push your motive ahead. Political competency relates to having knowledge of how to map the political terrain, get others on your area and lead coalitions. More often than not, political competency is not viewed as a critical core competence that is required by all politicians or leaders within an organization. The documentary “Shameless Propaganda” gives insights of the art of political competence that took place in Canada between 1939 and 1945 (“National Film Board of Canada,” 2014). When you ask fruitful pioneers how they get things going, they'll converse with you about conceptualizing, support, authority, market investigation, and arranging, however they'll infrequently expound on the unending normal micro-legislative issues they participate in. Legislative issues are by all accounts an unthinkable subject in authoritative life-the elephant in the initiative parlor that nobody examines or concedes is there (Golubeva, 2013). Political competence is not fiendishness by result of authoritative life. Being political, in its most appealing light, is being mindful of the hobbies of others, discovering zones of shared view, bringing others on board, and...

Policeman of the World

...Assignment 1.2  Policemen of The World  History 105   03/22/2015 Since its creation, the United States of America has continued to grow and find its place in the world. What started as a nation that was quite isolated became a major global economy, and, along with that economic power and the various foreign policies enacted since the Civil War, found itself also serving another role. This role taken on by the United States was that of the “World Police.” This title of the Policemen of the World was first coined with the Spanish American War, and has led to US involvement in foreign conflicts multiple times. These foreign conflicts include the Korean War and both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield among other international events. More recently, the United States has been involved with a number of conflicts in the Middle East, such as the Libyan Civil War and the incidents in Iraq. There has been mixed reception of US involvement in these countries, and, while both the United States and United Nations involvement in the Libyan Civil War and the recent intervention in Iraq are important to the ideals of the Four Freedoms, these incidents also show that US involvement can cause situations to escalate further than they may have without our policing force. Both the United States intervention in Iraq, and involvement in Libya are tied in with the United Nations, and, in the case of Iraq, with the United States War on Terror and previous...

The first human war dates back thousands of centuries back and ever since wars and battles have continued between different tribes, races and countries. In the 20th century a new terminology termed as “Global Leadership” has emerged onto the global scenario. This policy has been one of the most crucial yet the most secrete policy of America. Ever Since United States of America won the World War 2, the desire to control and dominate has been constantly increasing among the Americans. The question of whether the United states should act as a policeman for other countries has been long debated over the past couple of decades, On one side there are people who support the quest of Usa being given the role of the world peace maker and on the other majority are those who question; “Who is USA to control or act as a policeman for other countries?” History of wars to dominate other cultures, creeds, races and nations goes back to thousands of years. The Corrupt In Mexico

...Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), Mexico has one of the most corrupted government in the world. An example of this is the disappearance of 43 students who were attacked and arrested by the police but then given to a drug trafficking gang and now the students are thought to be dead. This, which occurred in Iguala, September 2014, shows the lack of security that the government provided for the citizens and shows that even though they are in a modern society, the government is not able to control or help their own people. In response to the government, the people of Mexico had started protests and were ready to the police if they had to. Culture Shock

...to. For most people in the world Yanomamo would be a culture shock, even for many of the people in their same country in South America. For someone to be prepared for this country the first thing would be to research everything they can about the country, starting with the culture, environment, and customs. A person should learn whether they may have any similarities and the continue researching other important factors; such as language, which could be a system of words or symbols; the type of intelligence of the people; values and beliefs, which includes customs, hierarchy, religion, freedom, and equality; finally norms such as, mores and folkways can help with interaction. The only culture shock I have had experience with in my life is moving from a smaller town to a bigger city. The bigger city has a bigger variety of people in a larger condensed area. We walked into a very nicely decorated mall with many executives and professionally dressed people and when we walked out there were homeless men and men begging for money and food. Another example I can share is a patient that explained to me how she grew up in Romania and remember how women are treated as low class and to traditionally stay home and take care of children. When driving she was pulled over by a policeman and was accused of speeding, when she knew she had not. She was offered to pay the ticket entirely in court or she could pay half right then directly to the policeman. It was customary to bribe...

Because it mean so much for him, that Daphne need to go with him, it gets you thinking that there is something wrong, because it seems like it only matters how everyone thinks he's a family guy, instead of actually being a normal family guy. Daphne thinks that she is a social misfit, because of her appearance, quote from the text “She has tried to make her attractive for this jaunt and has lost ten pounds and had her hands manicured; but now she sees the other ladies, she knows it is not enough". Stackpole risked his entire life, not getting to see his family again. After saving this woman, Stackpole rushed to the hospital with burns covering 30% of his body, near death for many days, suffering a great amount of pain. Firefighters are heroes. The Policeman A policeman is a member of the civil force of a national or local government, responsible for the prevention and detection of crime and the maintenance of public order. Policemen risk their lives everyday, with the possibility of getting shot, or threatened. Lynn Mays, an attender of a Black Lives Matter protest, got saved by a policeman during the recent Dallas shootings that left 5 officers killed. Mays turned to run when he heard gunfire, and a policeman pushed him out of the way to take cover, leading him to safety. An officer suffered a shot to the body shortly after Mays took cover. If the police officer who had told Mays to take cover did not take the action he did, or the police officer did not get shot, the lives of many could have fallen to shreds. The policemen sacrificed their own lives for others. They did not expect a reward or recognition or a fancy trophy; they genuinely cared about the lives of the public. Policemen are heroes. ...in situations that cause me to ask myself “Is there something I could be doing here?” When I shrug my shoulders and move on, I am guilty which I constantly justify by saying “Well, I need to look out for myself. If I worry about everyone else, I’ll never have time to take care of me. As one person I cannot change the world, but I can change the world of one person.” Can you imagine the world if every person felt this way? Issues that are in need of confrontation would never be dealt with. African American would probably still be slaves. Children would still be sweatshop workers because child labor laws would not have been implemented. Women would not be able to vote. I would not be in school writing this paper due to my race. But these are no longer issues because these were people who refused to be bystander. Every person alive can say that he or she is not always a bystander. The media is an example of our justification. For example, it presented us with the moral issue of the Rodney King trial, where a black man was brutally beaten by white policeman based on racial discrimination. Most people take the view that, in this case, the policeman were wrong. This supports their justification that they are not taking any actions by forming an opinion. Those at home watching the news broadcasting the tape of the beating often take no action to...
