...When examining my own ideology, I consider myself to be a moderate centrist. In general, my opinions on the economic policy, as it pertains to conservatives. However, I share my views with the liberals when it comes to their social policy. After looking at the political platform of both liberalism and conservatism and comparing my views on the issues, which are: lower taxes, welfare reform, free market, abortion, same-sex marriage and euthanasia; I found out that I am a centrist. I share my views with Jean Jacques Rousseau on the idea that “man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains”. Humans are living in a state of innocence with nature before being corrupt by society. He philosophizes that a human begins feeling self-confident and is a mentally healthy being, but once subjected to the expectations, condemnations, and influences of society the person is no longer healthy and begins to experience a loss of confidence. Society causes a person to become prideful and forge ahead for unrealistic goals. Thereby, losing one's own self and as a result loses freedom. The person has been chained by social corruption. In addition, Rousseau states that man became more and more corrupt and degenerate as he became a “social animal”. However, as Aristotle said “Man is by nature a social animal”. Therefore, as nature is corrupted by society, our government is also corrupt. In today’s society, cheating, lying, and scandal is all part of everyday life, so it is no surprise that these...

...The Political Spectrum is a diagram that splits political thoughts and ideologies into two parts or halves the left and the right. From the center, moving to the left, the attitudes and ideologies grow more liberal, from liberal to radical and from liberalism to communism. Going to the left would be called going to the democratic party. From the middle, moving to the right, the beliefs become more conservative, from conservative to reactionary and from conservatism to monarchism or fascism. The division in this diagram helps to explain and categorize individuals that are both republican and democratic in the United States. In this essay, I will state my political opinions and talk about my stance on issues facing Americans today. In today's...

...Fascism and The Political Spectrum In todays political world, most politicians and ideologues want to be as far removed from Fascism as is possible. Additionally, these same politicians often attempt to brand their opponents as fascists. This has resulted in fascism being used as more of a insult than an ideological identifier. This is not surprising given the unpopular nature of Fascism in modern society. That said, this name calling creates a great deal of confusion and can leave one wondering “Is Fascism Left or Right?” Fascism — a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism....

...The Reagan years of the 1970’s-1980’s And Todays Political Spectrum Lucinda Schutts September 28, 2014 The Reagan Revolution can be credited (although most try to criticize) as reshaping of everything about American politics, everything except for political ideology. “Reagan brought racial and religious conservatives who dislike the reformist social agenda embraced by the federal government in the 1960s, as well as neo-conservatives who want a tougher foreign policy.”(Schneider, W. 1987) President Reagan not only stabilized the economy, he pushed for rights of religion, sexuality, women, and drug abuse with a smaller government than today. “In the 1970’s there was a shift in Americans ideas from the New Deal and the Civil Rights movement and toward the sovereignty of the free market and private life.” (Parker, G 2004) “The 1980s created the “me” generation of Americans concerned more of their selves; Thus giving birth to the “yuppie-young urban professional.” (Watson, J.) “Many felt there were almost no limits on the good life they could lead.” (Watson, J.2014) The Political Spectrum today American society today has various political spectrums; even so it would be described more as a post-modernist (post modernism) society. (Liberal ideology) (a long stretch from the 1970’s and 1980’s political spectrum of Communism, and Conservatism to name a few. ) “Post modernism would be considered post World War ll Liberalism the “anti-Leftism.”...

...In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirement for the Subject English IV by Jeison L. Omandam December 01, 2011 INTRODUCTION Political history is the description and analysis of significant political occasions, movements, thoughts, and leaders. Typically it is developed around the nation states. It is distinguished from but relevant to other areas of history such as economic history, social history, and military history. Usually, political history discusses events pertaining to nation-states and the political process in particular. As per Hegelian doctrine, Political History ‘is a perception of the state with a guiding force beyond the material benefits of its subjects: it meant that the state was the root factor of historical change’. This differs with one, for example, social history, which predominantly discusses the events and lifestyles of common folks, or people’s history, that is historical account from the view point of a lay person. A study of political history typically centers on a single nation and its political change and aggrandizement. A few historians highlight the ever increasing drift toward confined specialization in political history over the course of recent decades: ‘wherein a college professor in the 1940s resorted to identify himself as a “historian”, by the 1950s “American historian” was the designation.’ Political history is, therefore, sometimes considered as more ‘traditional’ type of history, contrasting with so called more up-to-date approaches...

...year because they are uninsured. These people were not only denied a chance to live, but denied the right to have proper health care. This denial is a direct cause of the vast controversies over health care by liberals and conservatives. Liberals and conservatives are on two different sides of a broad hemisphere of philosophies that run rampant in The U.Ss’ government, especially on the view of health care. The recession has made the gap between these two margins more vast than ever before. Liberals on the far left of the spectrum believe that health care should be provided to all Americans regardless of their income. They assert that a universal health care system or even single-payer system would be the best form of health care to put in place. Now that health care has become increasingly unaffordable for many families and businesses, the turn towards a universal or single-payer plan could be the right move. Conservatives on the other side of the spectrum, the far right, tend to lean towards the government having minimum involvement in providing health care for the public. They believe health care should be privatized and based on a free market. By increasing competition and trying to keep insurance companies honest, conservatives claim health care system would be fixed. This idea is clearly inconsistent because many people in the US cannot afford to pay for privatized health insurance. Many conservatives also deem the concept of universal health care as inefficient. The...

...The republican leftist government was established in 1931. It inherited the poor economy courtesy of the Great Depression, so naturally unemployment rates were high and wages were low. Ideological differences between various political groups were in existence due to the radicalized time, however not to the extent as in most other European nations at the time as Spain was not as heavily involved in or impacted by WWI. On top of this, Spain had been rife with regional, economic, and social conflict for decades. These factors, although minor in the context of the causes of the Spanish civil war, were important secondary factors that worked in tandem to exacerbate the internal political conflict that preceded civil war. The primary cause for the weakness of the Second Republic was its divisive constitution (Decemeber 1931). The constitution played a large role in weakening the government because it exacerbated the existing divisions within the nation and appealed only to a minority. It was perceived as elitist and angered multiple political and social factions, polarizing Spanish politics. This polarization of factions brought on the collapse of the Republic. Argument #1: The leftist government failed to mature due to the lack of popular and political support for the constitution of 1931 and its constituencies, thus weakening it by dividing society. • The Leftist government was weakened upon its implementation of the constitution of 1931 because it stifled its potential for...

...women have proven themselves a force not to be reckoned with by involving themselves more and more into the political world. The film Machuca is a story of national violence and guilt seen through the innocent eyes of a boy named Gonzalo Infante and through him we meet two important women; Silvana and Maria Luisa Infante (IMdB, 2004). Machuca validates the moral crises of Allende’s fall with dramatic force, especially by the women of Chile. Through Gonzalo we witness the representation of Silvana and Maria Luisa, two women that come from very different backgrounds and political stand points who are trying to survive in Santiago. The theme of social structure and symbolism in the women is evident throughout the movie which is shown frequently through the actions of the right-winged and left-winged women; particularly in The March of Empty Pots and Pans and the symbolism of the roles each woman plays. Outside on the streets of Santiago, the audience often sees political slogans draping the city buildings and influential marches from both sides frequently disrupting the peace which both reflect the political ferment that’s in the air (Wood, 2004). The three friends, Gonzalo, Pedro and Silvana, help Silvana’s father take advantage of the political situation by selling flags at the competing demonstrations. Here we are introduced to the emotional, intense, and fervently political Silvana who immediately shows her communist side by joining in on C-C-Y, Chilean-Communist-Youth. The moment...

...Are parties becoming less ideological? Recently, political parties in many countries are becoming less ideologically attached and are beginning to move towards the centre ground. This is illustrated clearly with Fukuyama’s book, titled ‘the end of history and the last man’ which depicts how with the introduction of the 3rd way on the left, and many right wing policies now too extreme, the collapse of conventional ideology. He suggests there is now a final form of government since the end of the cold war. This is some what clear in the UK with the birth of New Labour in 1997, and the less extreme Conservatives, many argue they are simply both competing on economic grounds. The famous quote being ‘its economy stupid’, almost suggesting the economy is a new form of ideology. The same can be said for the US, but on less of a severe basis. Although Clinton is said to be most similar to Blaire, centering himself from extreme left wing policies, the rise of the TEA party in America, and to some extent Obama’s health care reforms can be said to be a revival of traditional ideology. Although to a less of an extent, Cameron’s Big Society can also said to be a revival of traditional Conservative policies. In terms of the economy parties are moving more centre-right and on social issues more centre-left. Although perhaps appearing very ideological in the US in particular American Politics is still very ‘catch all’. In terms of the economy it can be said parties and not becoming more ideological...

Further, their rationales differ in trying to protect education as a state run exclusive right because of historical legacies and funding. In the article “Common Core Education Standards: Why they’re contested left and right;” Amanda Paulson describes the adverse reaction in which politicians and the general public have in regards to current education reform as a whole. The backlash is coming from both sides of the political spectrum. Among Republicans, supporting Common Core (aka “Obamacore”) has become particularly toxic,...

...Teresa Stringer Diaon M. Cook ENG 101 Final Exam Yes your vote does count Why Americans (or young people) be more involved in politics? Our forefathers were beaten and mistreated and fought for us to have the right to vote. We should take the time to get involved and go out exercise our right to vote. Not just Americans should go out to vote, but especially women and Blacks. Our future depends on what is going on in politics. Therefore we should be involved in America the land that we love. Our forefathers fought for us to have the right to vote. Think back to your grandfather and great grandfathers and grandmothers what they went through in order to have the right to vote. My grandmother told me that she had to take a test to be able to vote, and so did Rosa Parks. This was not fair to our people but they had to endure it. Selma to Montgomery march made history for us as a people. They were hosed down with water and dogs let loose on them. Our foreparents were proud and wanted to be treated equally and fairly. The color of someone’s skin should not dictate the way that they should be treated. The Bible teaches us to love our neighbor as ourselves. We as American people should care enough about our country to get out and exercise our right to vote. We have earned the right to vote and we should utilize our rights as American citizens. If we don’t get out and vote then when things are not going right don’t complain, because you forfeited your right...

...#8, Cabugao Dayanara Rose Ticlao ARC2 9:00 am – 11:00 am CTHM 2H3 Asst. Prof. Robinson V. Laxa What is Arnis? Arnis is also known as kali, escrima, baston. It is the best known and the most systematic fighting art in the Philippines. The origin of the term ‘Kali’ is uncertain, the word ‘Eskrima’ and ‘Arnis’ are of Spanish origin “ Esgrima” which means fencing, and Arnis meaning “armour”.Consequently, practitioners of this style are referred to as Arnisadores, Eskrimadores or Kalistas. Before I took up arnis, I asked my self about the reason of taking it. Initially it was for self defense, but now it was more a philosophical reason. Arnis is really focused on techniques. So while it can benefit me physically, it’s really about self defense. At this age, 18, I really expect to have many encounters where I need to defend myself. Also the fact that I am studying in Manila, I know I really need to know some techniques for me to protect myself. It is nice to know that I would be able to protect myself and my family if needed with this simple knowledge about arnis. But I guess really the philosophical part comes not directly from knowing how to disarm and subdue an opponent, but from more of the indirect aspects. Arnis forces you to focus so course it will help you to improve...

...What is the Right Supply Chain for your product? -Marshall Fisher Summary prepared by Sunny Bhambhwani for Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai Need for the Right Supply chain Before judging the correct supply chain for your organisation, we first need to understand what a supply chain is. A supply chain is a system of moving a product/service from supplier to customer. It involves organisations, people, technology, resources and activities. Hence, a right supply chain would be the one that not only delivers the product/service to the customer, but also helps the producer match the demand of the product/service to his supply, thereby causing no excess or shortage of inventory. In the current competitive marketplace, a producer cannot afford to lose any customer due to unavailability of the product when the customer needs it, nor can he afford to bear excess cost for inventory surplus which might be unsold for a long time. Hence, deciding the right supply chain is of prime importance in the operational functioning of the organization. Types of products To judge the right supply chain, the producer first needs to identify his product as functional or innovative. A functional product is the one that generally satisfies basic needs, has a long life cycle and has a predictable demand. Basic commodities fall under this category. Due to the stability in the demand, competition is fierce for functional products and hence, producers tend to differentiate their product from...

...“Don’t be too close to him, you’re too young, you might get hurt.” These are some pieces of advice I could still remember when I felt a strange feeling of happiness, a feeling wherein it seemed that my heart is jumping up and down. Asking myself, am I in love? But then because of my immaturity, I disregard my parents’ advice. I let myself being close to him and unfortunately, in the end I got dumped and left alone full of pain and all I can do is to cry. I think this is usual to us in our adolescence days. There really comes a time wherein what we want is contradicting to our parents’ wants for us and because of this we feel that we are deprive of our freedom to choose. I can still remember the days when I was courted by someone for almost three years. Everyday my parents always gave me advice on this thing. There came a point that we quarrel because I get irritated because they keep on advising me. But, then I never answered him because it seems I felt it is not yet the right time for me to be committed to someone. I said that let’s just be happy on what we are now, I thought he understands me but then just right after my 18th birthday, he texted me and said that he needed space and he just go away explaining nothing. In that way I ended up hating him. This experience was the most regretful in my 18 years of existence, for not following my parents. I am not the only one who was hurt but also my parents who wants nothing but the best for me. I disappointed them; and even if...
