...Case 18.4 Advanced Automobile Concepts Case Objective This case item requires students to identify the proper associative analysis, run it with SPSS, and interpret the findings with respect to implications for integrated case, Advanced Automobile Concepts SPSS dataset. Answers to Case Questions 1. Use each unique hybrid model demographic profile to determine whether or not statistically significant associations exist, and if they do, recommend the specific media vehicles for radio, newspaper, television, and magazines. This exercise requires students to revisit the demographic groups they found significantly different for each hybrid model style in Case 17.3. With Case 17.3, they have identified groups within the various demographic variables that characterize each hybrid model’s target market. Here, they must determine the media preferences of those groups. So, they must run crosstabs for the demographic variables and the media preferences for each vehicle. If they find a statistically significant association, they then must look at the percentages tables to determine the media vehicles that are preferred by the hybrid model target groups. Since each hybrid model has a different set of target demographic groups, we only report the significant crosstabulations. Also, the SPSS output is too large to include here, so we have created column percentage tables and used bold font to identify the preferences of each group. For radio, the significant (95% level of confidence)...

RATIONALE OF THE PROPOSED INVESTIGATION For developing countries, special economic zones (SEZs) traditionally have had both a policy and an infrastructure rationale. In terms of policy, the SEZ can be a useful tool as part of an overall economic growth strategy to enhance industry competitiveness and attract foreign direct investment (FDI). Through SEZs, governments aim to develop and diversify exports while maintaining protective barriers, to create jobs, and to pilot new policies and approaches (for example, in customs, legal, labor, and public private partnership aspects). SEZs also allow for more efficient government supervision of enterprises, provision of off-site infrastructure, and environmental controls. The category SEZ includes free trade zones (FTZ), export processing Zones (EPZ), free Zones (FZ), industrial parks or industrial estates (IE), free ports, free economic zones, and urban enterprise zones. ...Description of the topic General View Cohesion policy in the European Union has the intended purpose of reducing differences between the member states in matters of economic, social and territorial importance and works to ensure that each region achieves its full potential. Moreover, Article 174 of the Lisbon Treaty states that the policy aims to promote ‘overall harmonious development’ of the EU through the ‘strengthening of its economic, social and territorial cohesion’. According to the European Commission, ignoring the disparities that are apparent across the EU would undermine the single market and single currency, justifying the large percentage of the budget that is spent on these policies . The Greek Case As we know Greek regions have benefited from the inflow of community funds since 1981,when Greece joined the European Union. At this point we believe that we have to present briefly the main funding that Greece has received from 1986 to 2006.Firstly, we have to mention the Mediterranean Integrated Programmes (MIPs) from 1986 to 1993,which <<pushed>> the available funds to small infrastructure projects in Greece. Moreover, we have also to state that the 1994-1999 Community Support Framework, gave the incentives to the country to implement the major infrastructure projects of national character. These infrastructures (railway network, ports, highways) helped Greece not only to connect with other countries but also to be prepared to enter in the Economic...

...ASA University Review, Vol. 3 No. 2, July–December, 2009 Zoo as Ecotourism Attraction – Case of Dhaka Zoo Salman Salem Shinwary* * Md. Jahidur Rahman ** Md. Mayen uddin Abstract This paper reports results from a survey of visitors to Dhaka Zoo, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The questionnaire comprised of items relating to motives for visiting the zoo, and evaluations of attributes, thereby permitting an important valuation approach. The construction of the questionnaire was prompted to learn more about what motivated visits, and whether there were perceived deficiencies in visitors’ experiences of the zoo. Like other studies mentioned in the report it was concluded that zoos represent an opportunity for family-based trips. However, while some opportunities exist for learning, on the whole visitors were not generally interested in acquiring detailed information about wildlife. Indeed, more importance was attached to the viewing of animals than to the recognition that possibly animals might require ‘private places’. These findings may instigate a discussion about the extent to which Dhaka zoo might be able to fulfil its classical missions and that for this to happen significant changes in zoo layout would be required. Additionally, possible implications for zoo management are discussed. Keywords: zoos, ecotourists, wild-life interactions, national parks, wildlife-based tourism, animal friendly, zoo management Introduction Dhaka zoo is the largest zoo in Bangladesh situated at Mirpur...

...www.ccsenet.org/jpl Journal of Politics and Law Vol. 4, No. 1; March 2011 Clarification of Rules of Acceptance in Making Business Contracts Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil Associate Professor of Law Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Management International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) E-mail: abduljalil@iiu.edu.my, abd_jalil2@yahoo.com Abstract Business firms and Business corporations enter into thousands of contracts everyday. Making a formal and written contract is very important for business corporations and firms although oral contracts are accepted and recognized by law. There are certain rules on making a valid formal contract. If the business firms do not have knowledge of those contract formation rules and they make contracts in ignorance of those rules, their contracts would be liable to be declared as null and void by the court of law if it is referred to it to determine its validity or to get a remedy for breach of contracts by one of the parties in the contract. In this paper I have not discussed all the elements of a valid contract. I have discussed only one of the fundamental elements of a valid contract that is ‘acceptance’. In a business contract, there must have be an ‘offer’ and an ‘acceptance’, to make a valid contract, if not the contract will not be valid, recognized and enforceable in the court of law. The objective of this paper is to clarify the rules of making a valid ‘acceptance’ which may lead to making a binding contract...

Corporate culture is significant in that it “influences the behavior of everyone within an organization and, if carefully crafted, can have a significant positive effect on organizational success”. Louis Gerstner (2002) comments “I came to see, in my time at IBM, that culture isn’t just one aspect of the game-it is the game. In the end, an organization is nothing more than collective capacity of its people to create value. Vision, strategy, marketing, financial management- any management system, in fact- can set you on right path and carry you for a while. But no enterprise- whether business, government, health care or any area of human endeavor – will succeed over the long haul if those element aren’t part of its DNA.” The culture...
