...Major Reforms in Foreign Direct Investment (“FDI”) Policy I. Change from Government Route to Automatic Route: The following additional sectors and areas are now under automatic route for FDI: Defence Sector (up to 49 percent) E-Commerce activities (under Single Brand Retail Trading) Plantation Sector (certain specified items) Up-linking of Non-‘News & Current Affairs’ TV channels, downlinking of TV channels Regional Air Transport up to 49 percent Duty Free Shops Limited Liability Partnerships (“LLP”) Share swap transactions Our Comments These are reflective of the Government’s focus on facilitating ease of doing business in India and are a means of facilitating foreign investors in exploiting tremendous investment potential available in India. As such, these reforms are good examples of minimum government -maximum governance and should encourage FDI inflows into the country. II. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs: As per the extant FDI Policy, for sectors under Government approval route, Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) considers proposals having total foreign equity inflow up to Rs. 3,000 crore and proposals above Rs. 3,000 crore require approval from Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). As per revised policy, FIPB to deal with FDI proposals with foreign equity inflow upto Rs. 5,000 crore whereas CCEA nod would be required for such proposals where foreign equity inflow is Rs. 5,000 crore or more. Our Comments This is another step of reform...

...following the path of director Karan Johar’s first movie, KKKG tells a multi-faceted story that is depicted over a long time period. The film centers around a family-driven drama where we track the storyline across 3 different generations. Amitabh Bachchan plays a wealthy businessman and the patriarch of the Raichand family with 2 sons – the elder Rahul, who is revealed early on to be adopted, and the younger Rohan. The crux of the film’s drama is drawn from the eldest son’s marriage to a woman from a lower socio-economic background, against the wishes of his father. Following the marriage, the father disowns Rahul and he leaves with his bride to London. The latter half of the movie is centered on Rohan’s storyline with his love interest, Pooja, and his attempts to bring Rahul and his family back into the family home in India. On the surface it seems we have entered yet another Bollywood film on family drama but KKKG goes beyond that. From the first few lines we can already witness the beginnings of a gender discourse – why is one gender like this and the other so different? In this review, I will elaborate on how the film establishes itself away from its predecessors and peers by creating diversified gendered identities for its female characters – specifically on the issue of gender roles in families and gender roles in the Diaspora. Gender Roles in Families The construction of female characters...

...Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham synopsis: Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham "It's All About Loving Your Parents." Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a lavish movie that deals with the issues of class distinction and the roles of women and men in marriage. It opens with a grown Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) finishing his boarding school education and returning to visit his grandmothers before he goes home for Diwali. His grandmothers, haunted by the memory of Rohan's estranged brother, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), sit Rohan down, and in their grief, tell him the story of his family. Yashvardhan Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan) is a famous, wealthy Indian businessman. He and his wife Nandini (Jaya Badhuri) adopted a baby, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), and raised him as their own. Nine years later they had a natural son, Rohan (Hrithik Roshan), and considered their family complete. Rahul was raised as the beloved eldest son, and promised his father he would always uphold the respect and traditions of the Raichand family, and always do his parents proud. However, love intervenes... On his way to deliver medication for Daijaan, the nanny who raised both him and his brother, Rahul sees a beautiful girl, Anjali Sharma (Kajol) celebrating India's cricket win in the street. Enchanted by her exuberance, he watches her dance and then follows her into her family's sweet shop. There, she mistakes him for the prospective groom of her best friend. ...a small temple and we do this at home while singing Indian hyms. The third day of Diwali: Lakshmi Puja Hindus join with their families and their Priest and they worship the Goddess Lakshmi to receive blessings of wealth and success, the triumph of good over evil. The worship of the goddess of wealth, is the main event on Diwali in North and West India. It is extremely important to keep the house spotlessly clean on Diwali. Goddess Lakshmi likes cleanliness, and she will visit the cleanest house first. Lamps are lit in the evening to welcome the goddess. They are believed to light up her path. On this night my family go to a hall and meet with all of our relatives. Together we do this pooja, afterwards we have a party. The fourth day of Diwali: Govardhan Pooja On this day, Govardhan Pooja is performed. It is when Krishna lifted Mount Govardhan with his little finger and sheltered men and beasts from the rain. This day is also observed as annakot meaning mountain of food. Religious people stay awake the whole night and cook 108 different types of food for the bhog (the offering of food) to Krishna. Normally I go to a temple in Wembley where 1000s of people go to see the annakoot, which is always spectacular as they have different varieties of food every time. The fifth day of Diwali: Bhai Bij The fifth day of...

This solution will also address issues like increasing the target consumer database, market spread, awareness about the business model, social engagements at the company’s Facebook page and blog. B. Summer Engagement Program – SEP WMP should visit the campuses across Mumbai and should look for 100-150 students for an Engagement Program in summers. Students should first undergo training on understanding the product offerings and services of WMP. They should be divided in to groups of ten and hence should be assigned a geographical area in Mumbai based on their availability and convenience. The whole SEP can be divided into following phases: On the very first day of their visit, to their allocated areas, they will perform a street play, more commonly known as ‘Nukkad Natak’, at public places near their allocated place based on the theme of awareness of rituals and pooja that we do at home and the importance they carry. Nukkad Natak will aid in building the brand image The theme for the whole activity...

...Main Idol. What are they really? No, they are not God’s / priests’ flash cards when they forget the *shlokas*. The copper plate absorbs earth’s magnetic waves and radiates it to the surroundings. Thus a person regularly visiting a temple and walking clockwise around the Main Idol receives the beamed magnetic waves and his body absorbs it. This is a very slow process and a regular visit will let him absorb more of this positive energy. Scientifically, it is the positive energy that we all require to have a healthy life. Further, the Sanctum is closed on three sides. This increases the effect of all energies. The lamp that is lit radiates heat energy and also provides light inside the sanctum to the priests or *poojaris* performing the pooja. The ringing of the bells and the chanting of prayers takes a worshipper into trance, thus not letting his mind waver. When done in groups, this helps people forget...

Human environment consists of physical environment and biological environment. Physical environment covers land, water and air. Biological environment includes plants, animals and other organisms. Industrialization, urbanization, explosion of population, over exploitation, disruption of natural ecological balances, destruction of plant and animal species for economic reasons are the major reasons behind environment deterioration. Our country’s degradation of environment degrades the global environment. Therefore, it is all the more important to have legislations to protect our environment. 1.Introduction In the Constitution of India it is stated that it is the duty of the state to ‘protect and improve the environment and to safeguard the forests and wildlife of the country’. ...of poverty in India,” 2012). Besides land, India is a great source for natural resources. It is abundant in iron, manganese, mica, coal and perennially flowing rivers that are used to generate hydroelectricity. Also, the purchase of agricultural land is not funded by banks. This restricts enterprise in agriculture. The lack of infrastructure adds to this dilemma. The underdeveloped transport and means of communication interfere with the development of the society and the nation as a whole. This adds to the poverty of the country. Inefficient transport makes transfer of services difficult. Agricultural marketing is difficult and defective, industries are devoid of power supply and raw materials and marketing of finished goods is improper (Pooja Mehta, n.d.). According to statistics, approximately 60% of the India’s population is employed in agriculture whereas the contribution of agriculture to the GDP of the country is only 18% (“Poverty in India,” n.d.). However, despite the copious resources and massive man power that India possesses, it lacks proper utilization of the resources available at its...
