Popchips: The All Natural Lifestyle Snack
Popchips’ advertisement effectively symbolizes a healthy lifestyle associated with the consumption of their product simply by the usage of Pop Star Katy Perry, Color and word choice, thus providing a strong connection between a healthy consumer through a healthy product.
Popchips very strategically uses the face of well-known celebrity Katy Perry to further amp up the quality of their product. Although Katy Perry is famous for her lovely singing voice, her career requires a lot more than just being able to carry a note. A good example of this is their use of the color blue. Perry is seen wearing a blue blouse accompanied by a blue background and chip bag. Blue is thought to bring a rather calming aura to the mind and the body. White was also another color used in Popchips’ advertisement. Seen in the text above Perry’s head, along with the product’s name on the chip bag. White is typically a color that is associated with cleanliness and purity. A study done by Washington University a numerous amount of times, provides a scientific proof that this is true. Popchips’ use of this visual is a very subtle, clean use of color that stimulates the mind to believe that the product is clean and suppresses the appetite of the consumer. Popchips’ slogan makes sure to promote the natural products that go into making their chips. “Nothing Fake About Em” was a good choice of words because it specifically states what image they’re trying to portray for popchips. This was not the only slogan that was developed for popchips. Another statement used was, “I’m not into phonies.... they only taste like they’re bad for you.”, which projects on the audience that although this treat is very healthy it still is an enjoyable snack.
