...people’s attitude in estimating whether it is conspicuous or not. In this essay, I will examine why there is a reality in that behavior and reasons why people may alter in due course. It is undeniable fact that some people are not always passionate about what is popular. In other words, popularity is taken as a major prerequisite for their desire. Therefore, those people tend to entertain themselves by obeying, their real wishes and ignoring what others are doing in their free time. It also should not be forgotten that majority of people are now taking as hobbies notably taking photographs and travelling which have appeared in recent centuries owing to technological revolution. This is especially because human beings are naturally attracted to prominence and they predominantly try to follow it. Obviously, those new areas of interests have pervaded nearly all parts of the world and consequently, examples like new ones produce to collecting coins. There is a growing recognition that creating bizarre characteristics in behavior of humans is occurring due to changes with which our world is facing. As shown above, people are always attracted by popular things which are appeared because of influences of changes, and fashions and they affect what people are enthusiastic about. ...Chapter Two The Fashion Market and the Marketing Environment 2.1 Introduction A market is a place for buying and selling, for exchanging goods and services, usually for money. The fashion market is unusual because until early in the twentieth century it was almost solely the domain of kings, queens, aristocrats and other important people. As will be seen, great changes, mainly due to technology and increasing globalization, mean that we now have a fashion marketplace open to everyone. Fashion can be a reflection of the time, from the utilitarian clothing of the war years to the yuppie look of the buoyant 1980s. Fashion also can be a reflection of individuals. Clothes are often chosen to reflect among other factors our age, gender, lifestyle and personality. Because fashion is both a reflective and yet creative discipline, it is necessary for fashion marketers to be aware of the factors surrounding the market and develop a broad understanding of the issues that can affect the garments that are seen in any high street store. 2.2 The development of the fashion market 2.2.1 Origins of the modern fashion market Until relatively recently, fashion had always been élitist and was used by its adopters to show that they were above the common people. Even the inventions of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; the spinning jenny, the water frame and the sewing machine have not had as great an effect on the market as have cultural changes and the explosion of the...

...Copyright © 2005 Stuart Fischoff. All rights reserved. 1 Media Psychology: A Personal Essay in Definition and Purview by Stuart Fischoff, Ph.D. Introduction The subject matter of media psychology is a mother lode of material that psychology has actively mined for decades, but only within the last ten to fifteen years has the enterprise emerged as a distinct and explicit subdivision of psychology. Media psychology found its inspirational roots more than 90 years ago within the discipline of social psychology and in the early work of social psychologist Hugo Münsterberg concerning the psychology and the psychological impact of film. Published in 1916 under the title, The Photoplay: A Psychological Study, it was the first empirical study of an audience reacting to a film. Münsterberg also provided such a keen analysis of a screenplay's (then called a photoplay) grammar of visual construction and nascent cinematic conventions and their psychological impact on the audience, that his incisive words still echo today in numerous film school lecture halls and classroom seminars. And there was psychologist L.L. Thurstone, arguably the Father of Attitude Scale Construction and Measurement (a signature area of theory and research in social psychology), who developed scales for the measurement of attitudes toward movies for the famous and notoriously politicized Payne Fund Research in 1928. This study’s practically avowed purpose was to indict (not investigate) the medium of film...

Advertising is a form of communication that typically attempts to persuade potential customers to purchase or to consume more of a particular brand of product or service. “While now central to the contemporary global economy and the reproduction of global production networks, it is only quite recently that advertising has been more than a marginal influence on patterns of sales and production. The formation of modern advertising was intimately bound up with the emergence of new forms of monopoly capitalism around the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century as one element in corporate strategies to create, organize and where possible control markets, especially for mass produced consumer goods. Mass production necessitated mass consumption, and this in turn required a certain homogenization of consumer tastes for final products. At its limit, this involved seeking to create ‘world cultural convergence’, to homogenize consumer tastes and engineer a ‘convergence...

...and Edward’s theory about communication styles. Brief Introduction of Singapore Singapore, officially called the Republic of Singapore, the world's busiest port, though physically small, is an economic giant. It has been Southeast Asia's most modern city for over a century. The name of Singapore comes from Malay language, which can be directly translated into the lion city. Frist of all, Singapore is located in Southeastern Asia, islands between Malaysia and Indonesia. The main island is about 42kilometres from east to west and 23 kilometers from north to south. Singapore’s total land area, including that of the smaller islands, is 697.1 square kilometers. Singapore's strategic location at the southern tip of the Malaysian peninsula has ensured its importance, which is greater than its size might seem to justify. Singapore consists of the island of Singapore and some 63 islets within its territorial waters. Like most of Southeast Asia, Singapore is generally hot and humid. It's warm and humid year round, with the temperature almost never dropping below 20°C (68°F), even at night, and usually climbing to 30°C (86°F) during the day. November and December is the rainy season. June-August is considered to be the best time to visit, but even then it rains often. Don't let the climate stop you from going, however. Most buildings are air-conditioned (to the point that you may want to take a sweater), and pains have been taken to make...

...CONSUMER BEHAVIOR PART ONE CONSUMER BEHAVIOR INTRODUCTION As the twentieth century has come to a close and we have moved into the third millennium, we can see many developments and changes taking place around us with all the industries and firms within each industry trying to keep pace with the changes and diverse needs of the people. Though for decades together, marketers have regarded ‘customer’ as the king and evolved all activities to satisfy this concept is gaining more momentum and importance today. This can largely be attributed to the prevailing market situation. Not only competition has become intense but over an above with the market being flooded with many products. The challenge before the marketers is to understand the diversity of consumer behavior and offer goods and services accordingly. Today the company image is built and made known by its customers. Thus the success of the firm will be determined by how effective it has been in meeting the diverse consumer needs and wants by treating each customer as unique and offering products and services to suit his needs and creating a life time value and relationship with him. (Nair 2004; 3) Marketers have come to realize that their effectiveness in meeting consumer needs directly influences their profitability the better they understand the factors underlying consumer behavior, the better able they are to develop effective marketing strategies to meet consumer needs. (Assael 2001; 3) Today, the digital revolution...

...1. Introduction After independence in 1971, Bangladesh moved to a private sector led export oriented economy in late 1970’s from a highly protected government led economy in search of prosperity and growth. Even though there was little growth and development in the country as a whole; one particular sector, the Readymade Garment (RMG) industry was the beneficiary of privatization. From 0.2 percent in 1980’s, it came to 75 percent in 2004-05 of country’s total export. This industry employs 1.8 million people of whom 90 percent are women. Trade liberalization as a form of globalization followed by the imposition of quotas by US was the key input while entrepreneurs played the anchor role to take advantage of these conditions. Government also came forward with favourable policies for further growth. However, the quota oriented worldwide apparel trade came to an end on December 2004. What is going to happen in the Bangladesh apparel industry, which was predicted to lose its stake in an open market? This dissertation aims to discover the condition of the apparel industry as a whole at present and how the firms adjust to the situation with their internal rearrangement. Additionally, issues considered as vital for industry’s growth, such as infrastructure, information technology in the form of database, internet and software, and capacity building will be discussed. The dissertation starts with the global picture of apparel trade, and with a brief description how this trade...
