Portable Planetarium

My first reaction viewing Sara’s portable planetarium was a mess of objects which didn’t quite make sense in their placement, but after a few seconds you can see how Sara placed each object strategically to capture the viewers attention and how each object has meaning. The installation art piece is most definitely a full round sculpture with a combination of linear elements. The planetarium doesn’t seem to have a beginning or end, there’s no focal point. It’s three-dimensional nature seems to give it an air of a “huge jumble” and it gives you the impression of “I don’t know where to look first”. The linear elements are the mobiles at the end, which seem to hang from wires and strings.

The planetarium was made using the method of construction. Sara used all kinds of materials to create her work of art such as lamps, ladders, pebbles, plastic bottles, buckets, papers, and even a projector. There is a contrast of both negative space and closed space, the open spaces seems to continually bring you back to the closed space. Even though the sculpture seems “crazy” there sees to be an element of proportion. The linear objects share a relationship with the spherical objects. But there are also components of dissonance since the sculpture seems to be moving.

The name of Portable Planetarium is a complete contradiction since it seems like all the objects are stable in their positions, and looks like they cannot be moved without the whole thing coming down. I believe the artist’s intention was to show the public that contradictions can work together quite well, and can share relationships as those demonstrated in this work of art.

...a) Why did Sony decide to introduce the price cut in the United States? The reason for Sony cut price is they want to introduce a full-spec console with features. So they need to clear inventory. From David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, he said that once the stock of 60GB machines was sold out in the US - the model would no longer be sold. We can know the PS3 is elastic in the US markets. And Sony used the bundling in Europe market, so we can know the PS3 is not very elasticity in the Europe markets d) Do you own a PS3? How Sony Playstation Has Applied the 10 Operation Management Strategies

...How Sony Playstation has Applied the 10 Operation Management Strategies Kenneth Turner GM583 Operations Management June 19, 2011 Table of Contents Abstact 1. Background 1. Problem Formulation Discussion 2. Analysis 5. Reflection 7. Recommendation 8. Appendix 9. References 10. Abstract Even though the Sony Playstation is a leader in their market, they still have the problem of the Japanese yen being more valuable than their foreign country’s currency, and the location of their manufacturing facilities being too far from their customers. This contributes to the increased cost of quality of them having to transport the materials, and finished products to and from the manufacturing facility. Also the cost of imports and exports is not as valuable for them because of the value of the American dollar, or the European pound compared to the Japanese yen. (Sony Corporation SWOT Analysis, 2010) As an Operations Management Consultant, I have been asked to present a paper to Sony Corporation on how they have applied the Ten Operation Management Strategies to successfully achieve their financial, social, market place dominance, cultural influence, international presence, and successful application of quality principals to successfully achieve their objectives in America. Ps3 vs Xbox 360

...PS3 vs. Xbox 360 These two gaming platforms have been going at it for years now. It’s time to settle which one is the better system. The Sony PlayStation franchise was the first to release in 1994. Microsoft finally released their Xbox in 2001. However I’m not comparing the first Xbox to the first PlayStation I will be comparing the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.  Starting with features they both have, the ps3 and 360 have, of course, exclusive games that can only be played on that specific system. For example halo is for the 360 and god of war is for ps3. They both have an internet browser and apps; they are Wi-Fi enabled meaning they can detect wireless internet. Through Xbox live and PlayStation network, they allow you to play with friends and meet people all over the world (the name tells what system has what). Now the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are generally made for the same they can do different things that set them apart. The ps3 has a Xross media Bar (XMB) which allows you to chat with friends while pausing the action in-game. This comes in handy when people message you while you’re in a good game and do not want to interrupt it. While playing users can earn trophies which so how bad ass you are. The trophies are ranked as follows: Bronze, silver, gold and platinum which can only be attain when you achieve all other trophies for the game. Keep in mind that some trophies are easier to get than others. While in-game the XMB can be used to invite players to your gaming session...

Sony Play Station Security Breach

...Sony Play Station Security Breach It is almost impossible to find the top reasons why most security breaches happen on a secure network compromising hundreds to thousands of users’ personal information. To protect a network and thoroughly secure confidential information, one has to examine the top vulnerabilities and think outside of the normal box to protect it. When a security breach happens, there is usually a pretty simple reason why it has happened. I will discuss one of the highly publicized security breaches to happen in years, the Sony PlayStation Network & Qriocity music and video service, what caused the breach and how this could have been prevented. On April 27, 2011 more than 70 million customers of Sony’s PlayStation Network and Qriocity music service received a disturbing email saying that everything the company knew about them including where they live, when they were born, their logins and passwords, and possibly more information had been hacked into. On May 2, 1011, a week later, a second security breach occurred on a different Sony network. The Sony Online Entertainment Networks was targeted and compromised 24.6 million users. Of that number, 12.3 million had their credit card information stolen. Lastly 2,500 user’s names and addresses were leaked from the electronics division of Sony creating a third incident. A total of three security breaches in three weeks amounted in over 100 million users having their personal information stolen makes customers’...
