Positive and Negative Backwards in Bedroom

Negative Effect: When a person first walks into the cramped "L" shaped bedroom, they first need to open up the dirty white door with the rusty doorknob. Moving forward there is an oversized, unmade bed with tons of blankets, a pink carpet, and dog stains that makes it look like water was splashed all over the room. To the right, there are a bunch of bins, and a clothing rack. It looks like the room is cramped together, which causes the room to look smaller than it really is. It looks like a potential episode of “Hoarders,” the TV show, or a consumer prison with all the endless wants and needs of too many “new” clothes and things. To the left there is an overfilled dresser where the clothes in the drawers are popping out like popcorn in the microwave. In the closet, there is a broken purple laundry basket that has scantily clad high heels in it, and two more bins along with that, making the closet seem more cluttered. The walls are painted a dull white color, with butterfly wallpaper in the middle, and a boring white trim that seems everlasting as it goes around the room. Below that is a purple wall color that looks like "Barney the purple dinosaur.” There are piles of clothes on the floor, that are as tall as the Rocky Mountains out west of the United States. The pictures on the wall are dull and need color. Faith, Love, Laugh are in tan letters that don't match the walls at all. There is a Bret Michael’s poster hanging that looks like a five year old made it, but in truth an adult made it. There is a big black dusty television and a chair with the wood frame falling apart, in the corner of the room. By the window there is a tan wooden desk that isn't steady, and a big black computer chair. The chair squeaks so loud that the room below can hear it. When the cocker spaniels from downstairs begins barking, it puts a thorn in the ear of anyone staying in this room. It doesn’t matter if they are trying to sleep like a baby, or just trying to do homework. If you listen closely you can hear the highway with very loud trucks and cars that are passing by. When you look up at the ceiling at the bright lights, you will notice all of them are working except for one. When a stink bug gets burned in the lamp it leaves an odor of rotten eggs and the smell of an outhouse combined. The temperature can either be frosty cold like the titanic after the ship sank in the water, or so stinking hot like summer days.
Positive Effect: A person first needs to open up the white door with the antique doorknob. They walk into the "L" shaped cozy bedroom. It looks like the room is inhabited by a person who has a passion for clothing, and she must live in a fashion statement world. You will see the pink carpet, as you make your way to the big comfortable bed. There is a clothing rack that has seven bins behind it for optimal storage, and to the left you will see an antique brown dresser. As you look in the closet you will see a well-loved purple laundry basket that has sexy high heels in it, and two more bins with even more beautiful clothes. The walls are painted with a white heavenly color with butterfly wallpaper in the middle. There is a trim that goes around the room, and on the bottom of it has a purple lavender color. It looks like something straight out of a Martha Stewart catalogue. Sitting in the comfortable bed, a person would have easy access to the piles of clothing on the floor. “Faith, Love, Laugh” are in tan letters, hanging on the wall and there is also an abstract Bret Michael poster. You will also see a big black TV that you can view like a window to the world, and a chair in the corner that can make you warm like a warm glass of milk. A tan wooden desk sits by the window with a cozy black chair that hugs you while doing homework. The sound of the highway and cocker spaniels barking downstairs can provide a white noise for doing paperwork and reading. All the lights are working but one, which still gives ample lighting. The room has a fresh outdoor scent except for on the occasion when a stink bug comes in not invited. The temperature of the room can range from being cool to sultry.
Section 3 When I begin this class, I didn’t know what “Angle of Vision” meant. If had to explain to someone what “Angle of Vision” means I would say “estate tax” vs. “death tax”. A person inheriting an estate would refer to it as a “death tax” mainly because they don’t want to pay it. What I learned in this class is to view media critically to understand why it is giving the message that it is. I now understand why certain words are used to describe events and appearances. I really don’t pay attention to current events as much as I should. I honestly feel a bit overwhelmed by the various options for news. It’s like watching a soap opera when I missed the first episode. Whenever I pick up the newspaper or watch the news I will be aware that much of the news is bias. A bias is a tendency or inclination that prevents an unprejudiced consideration of a topic. A lot of news favors a Republican or Democrat side, most everything now is bias. I will be asking myself these questions from now on. For advertising, newspapers, TVs new channels if I ever have the time to. What are they trying to sell? What is the reasoning behind the article? Just plain Why? What is the current issue? I used different word connotations to describe the different things in the room: the words cozy versus cramped or Sultry versus hot. To angle my vision I used analogies to exzadurate various elements in the room. The temperature of the room could be warm like a glass of warm milk or cold like the water after the Titanic sank. So can the cozy and the cramped. I also used hyperbole to describe the barking cocker spaniels as a thorn in my ear.

Bollywood

...Bollywood Overseas Who needs real life when you have the movies? At least that’s what the entertainment industries want the public to believe. Movies are a great escape from reality. It is like stepping out of your world and into someone else’s. That’s partially why movies became so popular. Another reason is because they give a great representation of one’s culture. Movies remind a person of aspects of their own lives which allows them to relate to them. Hollywood is the American entertainment industry and Bollywood is the Indian entertainment industry. Hollywood has been around for much longer and is more established. While people all over the world enjoy the entertainment produced by America, one has to ask, “Is it affecting other entertainment industries?” Bollywood used to be viewed by the people of India only. But to become part of the global economy, industries need to become more globalized. So is that what is happening to Bollywood? Hollywood and the American entertainment industry are globalizing Bollywood to make it become part of the world entertainment industry. Watching a Bollywood movie is an experience of its own. Imagine seeing a three hour long musical with bright colors, upbeat dances and catchy tunes. Bollywood launched in the middle of the 20th century and it was small industry barely reaching the public. All the films were simple with the basic theme being love. The stories involve a girl and a boy in love, but have some conflict that does...

Mike Huckabee Candidacy Analysis

...Mike Huckabee, an ex-southern Baptist preacher, host of his own FOX News show, Huckabee, and the former governor of Arkansas, first made headlines with the publication of his book God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy. The controversy arose over the super star couple of Jay-Z and Beyoncé, of all people. He wrote in his book, "My reaction: Why? Beyoncé is incredibly talented – gifted, in fact. She has an exceptional set of pipes and can actually sing. She is a terrific dancer – without the explicit moves best left for the privacy of her bedroom. Jay-Z is a very shrewd businessman, but I wonder: Does it occur to him that he is arguably crossing the line from husband to pimp by exploiting his wife as a sex object?" (Huckabee). First off, Huckabee makes the mistake of involving himself with pop culture instead of stating his position on actual problems in America. By doing this,...

Herman Miller Case

...Herman Miller, Inc. Traditional Case Study June 18th 2012 David Maillie Andrew Hatfield-O’Hern Andrew Withers Isil Ecevit Nawaf Nizamudeen Current Status History Herman Miller began in Zeeland Michigan as a manufacturer of high quality furniture and bedroom suites entitled the Star Furniture Co. In 1909 the company’s name was switched to the Michigan Star Furniture Company. At the same time, Dirk Jan De Pree was hired as a clerk. Just 10 years later, Mr. De Pree became president of the company. Mr. De Pree saw great potential with the company and soon after talked his father-in-law, Herman Miller, to purchase the company by buying up the majority (51%) of the company stock in 1923. The company name was then changed and named after Herman Miller and remains that way today. Early on, Herman Miller became a company that treated workers very differently. Most manufacturing companies, De Pree stressed that all workers are important individuals with special talents and potential (Adams, S. B., Manz, C. C., Manz, K., Shipper, F. (2010). He saw that workers were more than just hourly labor and knew that if he could encourage them to expand their horizons and broaden their knowledge and interests that the company would also benefit from this. In the early 1930s, the Herman Miller company was known for producing high-quality, traditional furniture. However, this was the time of the Great Depression. A very trying time with unemployment rates as high as 25%...

Jerry Mccain

... was hands down the best wide receiver in the world. He was playing in his second super bowl with the San Francisco 49ers. Last time was an embarrassment for McCain. The final score was 68-14, a devastating loss for the 49ers. But this time, there’s hope. It’s the last chance for San Francisco to score. They were losing 44-40 just barely behind. A touchdown was all they needed to win them the game. McCain gets a great pass. There were just two defenders to beat. Jerry makes it past the first one, but then he loses his balance. As he finally gets his head up, he notices the next defender, fiercely sprinting towards him. But then, the collision. The defender’s shoulder into McCain's head. There was a gasp from the crowd, his head jolted backwards as the rest of his limp body hurled forward. He landed right on his neck, but by then he was already out cold by the time he hit the ground. The other players desperately waved for the medical staff to get on the field. They immediately brought him to the hospital, this would definitely be his last ever football game, and possible his last day ever. While his frightened family sat outside the operating room, doctors did everything in their ability to save Jerry’s life. After an agonizing three hour wait, Maggie and Betty, Jerry's daughter and wife finally saw the doctor exit the operating room. “Jerry is in very critical condition. His brain is internally bleeding and we have put him into an induced coma until we get the bleeding and...

Yoshino

...A NEW BIRTH OF FREEDOM?: OBERGEFELL V. HODGES Kenji Yoshino The decision in Obergefell v. Hodges1 achieved canonical status even as Justice Kennedy read the result from the bench. A bare majority held that the Fourteenth Amendment required every state to perform and to recognize marriages between individuals of the same sex.2 The majority opinion ended with these ringing words about the plaintiffs: “Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.”3 While Obergefell’s most immediate effect was to legalize same-sex marriage across the land, its long-term impact could extend far beyond this context. To see this point, consider how much more narrowly the opinion could have been written. It could have invoked the equal protection and due process guarantees without specifying a formal level of review, and then observed that none of the state justifications survived even a deferential form of scrutiny. The Court had adopted this strategy in prior gay rights cases.4 Instead, the Court issued a sweeping statement that could be compared to Loving v. Developing a New International Business Idea

...GLOBALIZATION Globalization is the increasing integration of different national economies into one global market economy. It alters competitiveness conditions with the arrival of new players on the global scene and causes traditional roles to be redefined. GLOBALIZATION AS A GLOBAL TREND What seems to be a novelty is, in fact, a series of changes related primarily to the gradual removal of trade barriers, financial market deregulation, the communication technology revolution, and the impact of a more informed society. The causes of the current globalization wave include: • Technical and scientific progress, especially developments in the telecommunications sector and the communications sector as a whole. • Widespread transport use on an international scale. • A strong increase in demand for goods and services, resulting from a wealthier population and greater life expectancy. THE DIMENSIONS OF GLOBALIZATION Globalization is far from being one-dimensional. Economically, the primary effects of globalization are seen in the reduction of protectionist policies, the liberalization of international economic transactions, and the expansion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Technological advances contribute decisively to productivity improvement, economic growth, and international trade. From a political perspective, one of the consequences of globalization is the loss of the countries’ independence on certain issues in that international decisions are directly filtered...
