1. Do you agree that if you post something online it is open for the world to see? Yes, I agree that if you post something online it is open for the world to see. If you would not want your employer, family members, friends, etc. to see it then it should not be posted. According to an article entitled “What NOT To Post On Facebook,” Facebook’s mission is to make the world more open and connected. People should realize that there are limits to what should and should not be posted on the internet. People enjoy sharing photos and updating their statuses however there are some pieces of information that should not be shared. Once a picture, comment, etc. is posted to the internet it will be there forever. Some people believe that if they delete their accounts, photos, etc. that it will just go away. That is not the case; if a piece of information is deleted, it may not be visible anymore but it will always be retrievable if needed. In other words, it is there forever, no matter what you do. 2. What do you consider is inappropriate material that you should never post to the web? Inappropriate information that should never be posted to the web include naughty pictures, racial or bias comments that may cause someone to hurt you or themselves, personal information, and even negative comments about one’s job. What would people think about you if they saw you showing off your new tattoo that is located on a private area of your body? One picture can determine your future; employers look at these types of things and if they see dramatic exposures you will be more than likely denied for the job. As for comments, watch what you say. You have to understand that you are not the only one reading what you post. Some people get offended and they may decide to put themselves in danger due to a single post. Personal information is what most people struggle with the most. Personal information include things such as your address, location, age, birthday, etc. these are factors that could potentially put you in danger. These are the types of things perpetrators look for. Last but certainly not least, never post information about your boss, coworkers, or anyone in your work life. Your comments can be found and that can put your job on the line. 3. What can you do to remove inappropriate material posted to the web by a friend that identifies you? If you are able to remove the posting yourself then by all means please do so. However, in some situations that is an impossible task. For example, if a friend posts something on their Facebook page you will only be able to view the posting. The only person that has the capability of removing the post is the owner of the page. If this happens simply ask the person who did the posting to take it off. Explain to them how the post makes you feel and in some cases how the post may put you in some type of potential harm. 4. How do efficiency and effectiveness enter into this scenario? Efficiency and Effectiveness enter into this scenario in being that the person who is asking for the post to be removed should act as efficient as he/she can. What this means is in a timely manner. If the post is posted on Monday do not wait until three months later to ask for the post to be removed. On the other hand, the way that the person approaches the individual that did the posting should be in an effective manner. If he/she had an attitude and was using profanity and such, the person who made the post may become upset therefore he/she will not remove the post. These are just my examples that fit the scenario I provided in question 3 above; there are others. 5. Was MySpace the most efficient and effective way for the two employees to communicate? No, MySpace was not the most efficient and effective way for the two employees to communicate. Even though they created a private, password-protected account, it was still hacked into and the information that had been posted was immediately reported; leaving room for a lawsuit to occur. All of this could have been avoided if the two employees would have found a more efficient and effective way of communicating. 6. What is the potential argument each of these sides might use in order to win the lawsuit? In recent studies, most employees who are caught for posting information in regards to their workplace use “invasion of privacy” as their number one argument. The stored communications act prohibits unauthorized access to stored electronic communications, giving a private cause of action for unauthorized access to stored data found on a computer's hard drive or e-mail servers; employees may bring this up if their employer should not have had access to the post in the first place. Another technique employers may use is that they are the victim of “unfair treatment.” The supervisor may have overheard others talking about particular employees that seem to have posted something and he/she wanted to find out for themselves. In other words, it was not random and it did not apply to all employees in the organization. As for the employers, there arguments are focused around why the employee is no longer a good look for the company. They use the posts as a sign of the employee no longer wanting to be a part of the company. Employers also argue that the particular employee who made the posting has now caused damage to the organizations reputation. This can affect the organization as a whole. The customers and suppliers may not want to ever do business with this organization ever again.

...Sanika Ostalaza English 12th 2nd p.d Dec.19 2012 Topic: Posting on Facebook Thesis Statement: Posting personal information about some on Facebook or any other media sites can affect your future job, lack of respect, and possible termination from current job. Many people express themselves on Facebook. A lot of college students have Facebook pages that can affect their future job and friends. Sometimes people do not think before they write. When someone posts an ugly comment about someone else, it escalates on Facebook and maybe to where you are known. There are times that people will post nasty videos on their wall so others can view. For example I have a Facebook page and someone post up a video of a High School girl doing something that she is not supposed to be doing on tape. Well, I did not recognize the person but someone else did and now everybody knows that it was her. The High School girl was treated like garbage, students call her bad names, and she got teased. That same High School girl know that she as being video tape but she did not know that she was staring on Facebook for everyone to see. Posting personal information about you or someone on Facebook or any other media sites can affect your future job, lack of respect from others, and possible termination from current job. One thing that I would not post on my Facebook page is a rude comment about someone else. When I see others posting rude comments about others, I personally feel that person is trying to...

Multitasking

...Media Multitasking: A Lack of Social Skills? Many people in today’s society may look at multitasking as a harmless way of accomplishing multiple tasks at one time. For instance, one could be chatting with a friend online while listening to music and doing homework. Although multitasking can indeed be helpful in completing tasks in a timely matter, one must recognize the definite price that is being paid for this practice. Media multitasking is damaging today’s students by not only hindering one’s ability to fully absorb information, but by changing student’s understanding of what the term socializing means. In order to fully understand how media multitasking is damaging students, we must first realize what exactly is happening in the brain during multitasking. Those students who multitask during homework may be doing things such as browsing Facebook, checking email, texting, and instant messaging. Scientists believe that when a person is trying to complete multiple tasks like this, the brain is distributing low amounts of information to each task instead of concentrating on one task at a time. This creates a sort of “brownout” effect inside of the brain. University of Michigan Professor David Meyer states that “all the lights go dim because there just isn’t enough power to go around.” This means that even though you think you are giving most of your attention to that homework assignment, your brain is actually rationalizing instead. During this rationalization, the brain...

...Competitors Amazon is the largest E-commerce company today , being the largest online selling comapy gives them the credibility and the confidence needed to call themself the best E-commerce company . Well the answer to many people could be that no one can actually compete with amazon , but in fact the online shopping is so large that more than one company can share the spot light. One of the main competitors is eBay, its an online shopping website that was first set as an auction website but then expaneded and has now become a way for small business to build their own store/website threw their eBay account. eBay also has a better advantage because they are more international than Amazon, since most of the small business are based outside of the U.S. However, many customers prefer Amazon because they do not charge fees for posting your products. eBay will often charge their customer for the posting and any pictures that are attached to the post. Food Ordering App

...Literature Review Online food ordering is one of the various services in e-commerce where a shop offers it customer access to interactive menus of the meals they are offering so that the customers can place orders (Loshin&Murphy, 1997). This is done through a website that is available to the customer over the internet on their personal computers or mobile phones. Just like ordering other consumer goods online, online food ordering usually involves creating user accounts for the customers so that they can easily place orders every time they visit the website. The customer selects from a list of available foods and pays to place an order for the chosen food. Payment can be done by credit/debit card, or in some cases through online checkout systems like PayPal (Sheehan, 2010). Some food stores may allow the customers to pay on delivery or during pick-up. The customer chooses to have the food they chose either delivered at their homes or places of work, or the alternative of picking it up themselves from the food store. The world today is living in the Digital Age, atime when new technologies characterize what is definitely one of the biggest revolutions of all times. Sexism in Online Gaming

...Online gaming has been increase so quick and much that almost all people have some experience with it. The freedom of playing and the gamers can do whatever they want within the game to not only entertain but release some pressure from the real life as well. However, the majority of the gamers is still male-based and they used to express their feelings by saying women-offended words even with the fast increasing female gamer nowadays. No matter it's by foul-mouthed, or purpose, being called "cunt," "bitch," "slut" and other common misogynist epithets does not make people feel comfortable even for male. Some game developers want to, from their perspective, make things right which is to ban the user whoever make sexual-offended comments either in verbally or literally in order to make the online gaming community clean. Or in gamers' point of view, it's only a game. Game developers such as Bonnie Ross and Kiki Wolfkill are trying to find a way to eliminate online gaming sexual harassment. They offer permanent banning for the user that violates the regulation. Nevertheless, they sometimes do not realize the fact that people tend to do things that regulators do not allow; moreover, they can create more accounts if their accounts had been banned. The method of banning accounts while users made harassed comments is not a proper way to eliminate this type of action since people would still find ways such as symbolized words, icons, images etc.to express what they intended...

Business Strategy Recommendation

...for Target to reach their full potential and realize significant market gains, they will have to expand their internet business by setting themselves apart from their competitors. In doing so, Target will be able to build a stronger customer base online, and ensure relevance in the heavily web-focused future. Target first opened its doors in Minnesota in 1962 with a focus on convenience and competitive pricing. Today, Target has nearly 1,800 stores across the United States and 127 stores in Canada. Their original focus on pricing and convenience still remains Target’s focus today, with their current slogan being “Expect More. Pay Less” (Corporate Fact Sheet, 2013). Target is a discount retail store that sells groceries and a wide range of merchandise and household goods while priding themselves on innovation. The US Department of Labor describes the industry as “unique in that they have the equipment and staff capable of retailing a large variety of goods from a single location.” (2014) Target’s biggest retail competitor is Walmart, who sells similar items but claims to be the “Low price leader.” Target is a local based company with ample opportunities for improvement. They have been struggling recently due to their online data breech, which has left consumers leery about fully trusting them again....
